I've been on the fence about buying a 6 Cup but this spec tire thing really puts a damper on things.
I've got connections that allow me to buy Yokes or Hoosiers at a discount ( and possibly winning some with NASA ) which really helps keep things somewhat affordable for me but making it mandatory to buy an expensive slick seems un American.
If the purpose of a spec tire is to level the playing field why not choose a less expensive option for everyone. What difference does it make if you run the 1500.00 Toyo's or the 2600.00 Michelins ? As long at the cheaper tire is safe, has decent grip, and will last as long if not longer than the more expensive one.
Some how I see politics rearing it's ugly head here ....

Can anyone offer buying experiences from JX2 recently? Are they keeping tires in stock and available? Did they settle on pricing? (IOW - are we still paying the PCA premium for Pirelli DH tires?) Have to take the plunge in the next few weeks prior to my first race at College Station in mid-March. Just trying to be slightly pro-active.
