Spec Michelin tires for GTC
Have you bought tires recently? If so, what pricing (including any taxes and delivery charges) are you seeing?
Back in January Jackson quoted the following for the spec tire (which they said was the same tire used in the Supercup):
MSPN: 35400
24/64-18
$480 plus tax
MSPN: 73883
27/68-18
$505 plus tax
I was not sure why tax would be payable on an out-of-state delivery, though.

Thanks, Bill. That's no price change at all, and I thought maybe we'd get better pricing once the PCA connection kicked in?
Any explanation why sales tax was payable--leaving aside your obligation to pay use tax to CT?

The only reason a company has an obligation to collect is if they have a business location or house inventory in the state. Sales to a state doesn't constitute nexus or business purpose. I agree with u , I don't understand why they do that. On top of the fact that there is no price adjustment, they are making GTC cars slap stickers on there cars.

$4526 for 8 tires (2 sets) with TAX and shipping sent to California.
PCA had us put huge JMS decals on window and very large Michelin tire stickers on the sides of the car. Lots of grousing at the track.
Oh and BTW you will need Michelin rain tires too if it rains!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Since PCA made the deal with Jackson, maybe PCA can clarify why taxes are applicable to out of state sales. Woodman never charged sales tax to us that I recall

I'm a little confused. If you show up at the track with the correct spec tire you will be DQed if you don't have the receipt that you bought them from a specified supplier?
I can understand if it's a sponsored program like pirelli cup or Yokohama challenge where the tires are distributed at the track, but I'm having a hard time getting my head around this...

If you show up with the Cup tires from Michelin, you won't be DQ'd. However, if you need more at the track, I think you have to buy them from Jackson. That said, I'm not sure if Jackson will be at every race so there may be somebody else there that has them (Woodman, etc).

I would think it would be as Peter has described above, has anyone confirmed that you can't get them from your regular supplier? I have a hard time believing that Michelin has shut supply of all cup tires to one vendor. There are a few other organizations that run Michelins, are you telling me PCA has a custom spec #tire? They would barely do that for F1...

great.
for possibly the first time in history, they may be cheaper to buy in Canada even with GST if bought through a race team!
looks like Michelin scrubs for me this year
Anyone have any they want to unload?

Jackson Racing, the PCA supplier, gave us a price of $515 - 24/64 and $545 - 27/68 (no ship/tax) which is $90 per set more than Sube Sports on the west coast at $490 and $525 each.
Some deal
