Default Can my 997 Cup Engine survive one more season?

I am debating (gambling) if I can run one more season on the 35hr old 997 Cup engine. The engine was rebuillt at Porsche Motorsport about a year ago and since then it's done a seaon of PCCJ (Japan) series....

'09 will be another full season of PCCJ (10 races) which use up another 30hrs of run time including practice.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Let's see.... I know 2- 996 cups that went 200 hours, 2 that are currently around 160, and many more that went well over 100. Same motor so I think you'll be just fine as long as you don't miss a downshift....

No worries at all... Probably worth doing a compression and leak down every time after you've run to detect if you're starting to develop any issues

Might be more expensive at 200hrs to refresh the engine.

Appreciate all the feedback. We did the compression test after the last race. The numbers looks pretty close to the fresh engine - but I am not sure what is acceptable.

Here is the compress test results -
Cyl #16 (My car) #54 (Fresh Engine)
1 14.0 15.5
2 14.5 15.5
3 15.0 15.5
4 15.0 15.5
5 14.5 15
6 14.5 15

I wouldn't worry about the actual numbers but rather about changes or 1 cylinder looking different versus the others.
We always did compression and leak checks after every race and this allowed us to feel comfortable that nothing was out of shape.

I'd be more worried about missing an upshift

Appreciate everyone's feedback - Thanks! - I will go with the engine as it is and keep an eye on it over the season. Next year we should be moving to the new version Cup car - so, we just need one more year out of this car.
