2005 Cup for Sale
***CAR IS SOLD***
FYI, my recently acquired '05 Cup is for sale in the classifieds if anyone knows someone looking for a great Cup car.

(Yes, I know wing endplate is missing. Friend borrowed my race garage for a DE and broke it when he stepped back. Freshly painted one will be installed soon.)
Thanks,
Scott

I will give you the short version...
After racing successfully with BMW CCA for 5+ years, I decided this Summer to step up to GT3 Cup racing during this offseason. My plan was to research Cup cars for 3-4 months to find the right car (price, modifcations, conditions, etc.) and be ready to race in February '08. As you can see from my previous posts, I was initially looking for an '01-'03 car in the $85-$100k price range.
During my research, I enlisted the help of Glen G who unbenownst to me was a very well respected Cup guru. I forwarded listings of various cars to him and he would offer his opinions. We did not have much success in finding the "right" car for me during the first few months. Then, the 2005 GT3 Cup (formerly Barry Moore's) came up for sale. I was informed at how special the car was and he was convinced that it was the car for me to buy even though it was out of my comfort price range. One thing led to another and I was wiring money before I even realized it....some 36 hours later!
Unlike other non-Cup racecars that I have owned where the market is somewhat volatile and hard to predict, Cup cars are the exact opposite. I knew that I could buy the car, try it out (never driven a Cup car before, much less ridden in one) and could sell it 30-60 days later without a taking much of a hit if any. Since I bought the car, I have only driven it for one DE weekend. In fact, I only used one of the two sets of used tires that came with the car for that weekend....the car was still amazingly fast and well setup. Within the first day on the 1.7 mile MSR course, I had a 1:16.xx and there is more left in the car!
Needless to say, I am hooked on Cup cars and will be racing them for many years to come. However, my financial comfort zone is important to me and this car is over my budget. Recently, I came across a better car for me ('03 Cup) and have decided to make a move. The '03 Cup is not as fast as the my '05, but I am fine with that. I am looking to sell this car within the next week or so.
Hopefully, this is a good explanation.

I still think you should build an E46
Congrats on the cupS though, hopefully everything will be sold/bought and sorted before the race you are trying to make it to.
Goodluck and get some incar!
As a side note - $125k could have bought an ex-alms M3 GTR

This was Steve Johnson's car? We ran that car at the 24hr in 2005. Me, Leh Keen, Steve and Al Bacon. Nice to see it still tearing up the track. Good luck with the sale.
