992 cup comes with ABS standard?
I just watched all sebring races, noticed that was no tyre lockup at all. Just wondering that all 992 cups in USA comes with ABS as standard now?

Ya, and in the .2 they'll introduce auto-steer and auto-gas...
Jokes aside, tech > driver is increasingly the trend in motorsport. The current 488 GT3 Evo has a location-based traction system that can be trained and replicated across drivers. The pro goes out to set a fast lap, engineer programs his line and traction characteristics into the TC ECU, thereafter regular Joes can all pretend they're finessing the car at its ragged edge...
The writing's on the wall: to run a profitable customer racing program, a manufacturer has to sell cars. Cars that are easy to drive fast (for Ams) sell better than fast cars that cater to pros. It's time we accept, adapt and learn to master the technology...

Sorry but I'm all for ABS in Cup cars. Two races in with over 30 cars and I don't think there was one incident where a lock-up led to traditional pile up. Crashes may be a great source of entertainment in NASCAR but in Carrera Cup NA all it does kill track time and diminish the close wheel-to-wheel racing that makes this series so enjoyable to watch.
Bear in mind you can always turn the ABS off or down if you feel the need.

^ Fair point. I was approaching the topic from a learning standpoint.
An unassisted cup car like what you and I went through is the toughest teacher one can get, outside of racing spec Formula Renault or F4 etc..
But once a driver acquires those braking skills they serve him for the rest of his career...

Coming from a 718 MR, im used to burying the pedal with ABS.
Transferring over to the 992 Cup was very familure in regards to braking technique and served me well for late braking. It is all I know at this point.
I dont know what i would have learned from a non ABS car that would carry over to the new ABS equiped 992 Cup in regards to braking?
992 GT3R also has ABS, so what im used to will carry over once again as i climb the ladder.

The Carrera Cup GB cars have no ABS for that championship, but the teams I have talked to install ABS in the cars when they take them to other races, such as a winter trip to Spain. The GB cups also have non-adjustable dampers. Personally, I prefer ABS and am happy in PCA racing it's allowed. Very annoying to come into Turn 1 at the start with ABS in my 996 and worry about lock ups in the cups behind me without ABS.

With the latest generation, trail braking into the corners and braking in the corners becomes a lot easier too. Even if you are a great driver and great at braking without ABS there is no way to get just one wheel not to lock up while keeping braking pressure on the other 3.
Thanks
Ed

Originally, and for a while after the introduction of the 991.1 GT3 Cups for the US series, NO class was permitted to have ABS in the IMSA sanctioned Porsche GT3 Cup Series in 2014-2015.
Then, I believe in 2016 or 2017, the Masters class was permitted the addition of the M5 system from Bosch, and all that I know took advantage of that.
This year, with the introduction of the 992 GT3 Cup car, Porsche has extended worldwide Carrera Cup (GB, Germany and Australia-Asia) series rules to the US with the new USAC sanctioned series North American Carrera Cup.
It’s all good!

Don’t know anything about that, just know that all 992 GT3 Cups supplied to the US, for what is now for the first time the factory-recognized, organized and run Carrera Cup series in the US, are equipped with ABS. Heck, the IMSA GT/LM spec GT3 R is equipped with ABS.

I don't know why people long for inferior cars so much. My first track car was a 914. It sucked in pretty much every way possible. Gear changes were more like suggestions. I'll take a modern Clubsport or Cup any day over the old analog cars.
