987S - How much additional hp and torque can I get?
After scanning the web and talking to the dealer, it seems like my only choices are to chip the engine, get an EVO filter and AWE exhaust for maybe 25 hp and ft. lbs. of torque gain. My question is, can I do anything else? Am I limited to stock plus 25?

I think you'll be lucky to see an additional 25HP to the wheels with that.
Having said that I don't have any reccomendations for increased HP. I did extensive modification to my 944 S2 track car and dynoed every change. The bottom line about 11 HP. The best performance increase for it was to remove as much weight as possible. I'm not going to fool with any mods on my street car (Boxster S).

I like Eddie's and Bro's answers. Intake, exhaust (including headers), and ECU reflash might get your '05 up close to stock '07 hp for only a few grand. The cheapest route would be to select a loud sport muffler (cat-back) and you'll swear you got an extra 25 hp by the butt dyno. Don't actually dyno it though, as the subjective part is the most important.
Bolt-ons and "chips" can give a few hp, but big gains require big bucks. One way to get 380 hp or more is with a 3.8L X51 engine transplant, or just buy a 997S with X51 for about the same price.

the motors have been detuned to not compete with 911, so you can get around 20-25 hp with headers, exhaust, chip and underdrive pulley (will also help powersteering problem). also take out restrictor plate on drivers side air inlet. FL has done lots of work with caymans and boxsters. I'm sure AWE would be a good place to start as well. doesn't hurt to do a before and after dyno.

Several Tuners are making significant engine mods for the 987S with very good results.
RUF and ORTON PERFORMANCE have Supercharger options, both with 400-500 HP. TCP in USA and TTP in Germany are now selling new turbo setups with over 400 HP.

As for boxsters.... 20-25 hp actually is a pretty good gain for a modern normally aspirated motor. It won't be earth shattering, but you'll feel it. Above that... supercharges and engine swaps.
