Default Roadtrip Complete

Just finished my roadtrip from LA>IL>BHM>LA.

Had a virety of weather along the route.
Wind, Rain, Tornados, Snow, quite the trip.

Here are the stats of the trip.

The only bummer was the oil change after the trip, 425 for an oil change, yikes!
But a bellypan and bar has to be removed...oh well

You say that you had your oil change come up at 10,000 miles, did you have any earlier changes done? The reason I ask is that my P4S called for a change at 5,000 miles and I can find no information as to why. Most of my driving was done at highway speeds and little stop and go.

By the way, I watched my oil change take place and the removal of the partial belly pan and brace were minor incidents that took less than two or three minutes.

The recommended oil change interval for ALL Porsches is 10,000 miles.
Why was yours 5,000?

very nice. My car made its first trip Seattle to LA last year. I did not need and oil change although I did need a new engine. At least it was free.

That is exactly my question, my dash lit up and said now is the time at about half of the required interval and I haven't been able to find anyone else who has done so. As a matter of fact everytime I start the car, the reminder comes on first because my shop didn't have a PIWIS program to reset it.

Mine requested an oil change at about 6000 miles. The dealer said the message comes up at approximately one year whether the oil change miles are experienced or not. So it is not only mileage related, but also time related.

This is the first answer that makes sense, my build date was 10/2009 and that is almost exactly one year earlier.
