1.It is possible to make Update without errors only on the version under the original PT3G VCI, and it is not easy, the update is installed manually

Since no one wants to tell us what to do with the actual img file, looks like you just need to download imageusb from this site and use it to burn the img to a USB key. Once you have the USB key prepared, connect it to your PC and you'll be asked for the BitLocker key. Unfortunately, or fortunately, none of us have the BitLocker key.

EDIT: This bitlocker key appears to work, but you need to rename setup.prs to setup.rar and decompress.

The person who posted it on the web (AlexeyMS) does not know how to use it. They posted the file for other purposes, so that they could sell the finished version, which they also bought

Which is why I was hoping someone here could explain, but it's ok. The knowledge that it will mess with our ability to use the 1654 clones is enough reason to not monkey around with things. Too much. Since I'm running on a VM and can take snapshots to revert back to an earlier version, I'm still monkeying around.

I'd say the only real update would be a PIWIS IV
For me, the VM 37.250 and 39.800 are more than enough since I have a 997 GT3. As long as I can pair up my VAS when it arrives

I've been working mostly with Macs for the last 20 or so years, but also with digital cinema cameras. Most post production platforms have been OSX based.
I had some camera SSDs freak out and used a program called testdisk to recover some aerial footage I had just shot-it was the only thing that successfully recovered the corrupt footage from the drives.

As far as Windows goes, I know the operating system only to a certain extent, and it's because most of the programs I've ever used were mac based. Things have changed in the last few years. Seems like Apple is making products meant to be thrown away these days.
I put a Sandisk 1 Terabyte SSD on my Macbook Pro and it brought it close to 2020 standards so the VM route should work well-

Im sorry for my naivity, i ve read 1/2 way through the thread but need some advicd. I bought a toshiba computer with the correct cable and piwis that could handle 991.1. I bought on rennlist but seller said it works right of box but it doesn’t work. Seller claims he cant help me. A tech friend told me it needs software reloaded. All my porsches are 2007 or older. Can someone direct me to where i can purchase a software disc or download online. Thanks.
