@Para82. I'm not going as far as to say the would OWN the market. There still is quite a big quality difference that many European buyers can't get past. And don't forget that monster engine is punished by our tax laws !

But yes, the Grand Sport would definitely be on my radar if there were more dealers, more support, more knowledge and so on so we could "comfortably" do trackdays in it.
But there just is no support network for them over here, couple that with the monster taxes and most people are out. There are some that use it as a DD, some as a weekend car, but NONE as a track car.

For reference, a grand sport costs about 110.000 EUR over here, not all taxes even included. That amounts to 127.000 USD. You see the problem ...

Even the regular 5.0 Mustang GT has surpassed the sales of Porsche and is now the number one selling sports car in Germany!

Good suggestions on purchase. Considering both the Z51 and the GS, this car will not see a racetrack, but still weighing the GS as an option. I'm after a 1LT stripper example, want to keep it at 50-60k.
Para, I will warn you though, the stock MT in the C7 will not be as good as the one in the GT350. The GT350 has one of the best MT's in the market right now.

If you get the Vette, budget around $150 - $200 for the MGW shifter on the Vette and it will be money!

I love MGW. I took a trip up to see the facility near Atlanta a few years back and George the owner personally installed an MGW shifter on my Boss 302 Laguna Seca at no charge. I drove it to Road Atlanta the next morning for an epic track weekend, great quality stuff.

I'll probably make the trip up there again with the C7, thanks for the suggestion.

I found a brand new 2017 Grandsport sitting on a dealer lot not too far from me and has the exact color and spec options i'm looking for. It's a 72k msrp and they have it down to a 65k sale price. Good deal?

Well if one believes the dealer margin is ~10%, then you're basically getting it at cost.

Just bear in mind that the 2018 models are right around the corner and GM has added some nice features to these new models, though I believe most are cosmetic (e.g. Interior options and upgrades), so the dealer is probably very motivated to move this car.

So so if you're ok with a 2017 and its spec'd the way you want, see if you can shave off another percent or so, but as it stands I think it's a good deal.

You should be asking for 15% off and see what they say. End of the month; they'll bite.

Good luck,

Bish

Thanks guys. Talked numbers with the sales GM today on the phone. He will not accept below 65k for this car. It does have the Z07 aero package (minus the ceramics) so as it stands it's pretty close to those ultra cheap Kerbeck discounts. I've agreed to 65k. They offered me full KBB value for my GT350, was happy with that. We're working up the paperwork now, if all goes smooth i'll pick it up later this week.

Are you going to be tracking the car?

I ask because the spring rates and suspension calibration is different on the actual Z07 package car; it's not just an aero package.

I did see that, my car might see a track once a year, nothing heavy. Meant to be a daily driver/roadtrip car mostly, not interested in the cup tires.
