You started a track session with 36 PSI cold??!! Unless you drive like a grandma, your tires are going to pick up at least 7 psi, likely10 psi or more, which would put you significantly past the ideal track pressure for any street tire that I'm aware of. It's amazing your car had any grip at all. 28 cold + 10 psi = 38 hot, which is close to the upper limit that I used to run my PS2's, and the point beyond which they'd get greasy. I don't have any direct track experience with PSS, although I've used them on two daily drivers, but I would expect similar characteristics in regard to track pressure as the PS2.

Assuming a lap of 2:00 in PSS, the Trofeos would be around 1:57 - 1:57:30. You should try the Trofeo R. If you do get them, start them at 24 PSI cold. They operate best at 30 PSI hot.

Agreed, the car was less than 2 weeks out of the factory, wanted to see how it would perform as delivered - should of dropped pressure way below factory settings - and planning on it next round. Another gentleman was there with his 9 day old GT350 Track Pack - same thing left the factory settings on and was complaining about the PSS - didn't think until after the session was over to drop the pressure all the way down to 28 - looked more into it and saw Ford Performance recommends not only 28 PSI but also a specific track alignment to be performed prior. Looking further into the alignment settings, my understanding it would require the purchase of caster/camber plates. Haven't confirmed this yet.

This is a fantastic experience, you're going to love it. I attended the Boss 302 Track Attack at Miller - the track is beautiful. They will have a photographer on site too who is going to get you about 80 awesome photos and give you a USB for you to take home after. Worth the airfare for sure. Great drivers on site and a decent museum too, let us know how you like it.

Thanks. Are you not going to attend? It's free for all 2015 and 2016 GT350(R) owners. It's a nice bonus for me. Feeling better about paying the $4K ADM already.

I need to see how the long program will last - guessing through 2017. It's really worth it though - great people there and you'll meet some interesting folks and see some amazing cars. They'll have a GT350 with your name on it when you arrive - full cage and all I assume like they did with the Boss 302.

Very impressive. Question though (sorry if its obvious), I see that you are passing some pretty amazing cars easily like GT3 or GT3RS. Are you saying GT350 is a better car or is it because you are a better driver? Because on paper GT350 should not be able to come close to a GT3 (at least the non R version).

The GT350 is very close to the 991 GT3 actually according to testing at Grattan Raceway. The non R is faster than the Z28 even.

Can you share the link to the testing? Just curious. GT3 is almost a full second faster to 60 and 1/4 mile, has PDK, cup2 tires, and bigger brakes. I understand (and appreciate) the new FPC engine and magnaride, but taking on a GT3 or even RS is almost miracle (unless there is a significant driver or some other factor we dont know).

The 350 is also significantly heavier, and probably has higher CG. I don't put any stock whatsoever in track videos of amateurs driving with other amateurs. There is WAY too much difference in driving skill at the amateur level to drawn any inferences from such videos. YouTube is replete with videos of Miatas passing Ferraris and other such nonsensical results.

To have a valid comparison, you need same-day testing by an independent 3rd party with a driver who's good enough to drive two very different cars at 10/10ths each. Even then, you have to know which tires are on each car, and whether they bothered to set an equally aggressive alignment on each car, appropriate for the tires that were used. For example, a 350 on MPSS would be a significant disadvantage (2-3 sec) from tires alone if compared directly to a GT3 on MPSC2, a GT3 with a street alignment would be at a disadvantage (from an alignment standpoint) to a 350 with really aggressive set of r-comps and an aggressive alignment that gets the most from them, etc.

Here is a customers car we recently completed here at GMG. We added a a whole bunch of carbon goodies including several trim pieces, installing a custom coated watson 4 point roll bar and even painting the inner barrel of the OEM wheels to match the outer!
