Becvause they are plastic they are cheap.

New radiator is around $140.

I guess it all depends on how much it will cost you to buy the car... more than $1,500 and it's probably not worth it.

Figure buy back is $1k, then About $1k to fix it. Then I could sell it for maybe $3000. Not worth the hassle, unless i drive it into the ground. then as things go bad on it is it really worth fixing rust and stuff. I can't bring myself to do that, I'm going to strat looking at e38's and Range Rovers.

I agree with this logic, would probably do the same.

I bet that's going to make a killer car for some kid who's dad owns a body shop and buys that car at auction for 500 bucks.

I've gotta say the E39 is just about the finest car I've driven. It's not sporty, but it's got power and handles nice. it's quiet, roomy, easy to work on, comfortable and it just does everything that you want it to... and with the wagon, ridiculous trunk space. I'd say take the cash, and buy another one.

That isn't too bad but like other's have mentioned, it's the bit's and pieces under the hood but there can't be any major damage (I don't see any coolant puddles in the photos). I'd buy it back, fix it, and sell or just drive it until I found something else.

I would fix it cheap and either drive it into the ground or sell it to some high school kid. That would be a great kid car as it is big and safe.

This happened to mine last January... I replaced the hood ($275 Tiawan), and had the roof and hood repainted ($1400)... I've just removed and rebuilt the sunroof cassette because the body shop and a speciality glass house wouldn't touch it...

Low 80's today so I'll adjust the sunroof glass and start on installing the Headliner...

I'm driving this car till it falls apart...

And they don't fit well, plus I'm not 18 and cool enough to pull it off with a 528.

Yeah, thats what I thought... Too damn old...

Hell, If I wanted a black hood, I wouldn't have had the cheapy repainted...

What Pisses me off it I had just finished Valve Cover Gaskets, VANOS Seals, Cooling Resevoir, Thermostat/Water Pump... And I didn't shut the hood all the way... Otherwise I might have just dumped it...
