Default More C8 vs GT3/RS Footage

The first video posted here received some feedback around how it was not a fair comparison because it was a public session which was full of other slower cars etc - typical excuses you would see on any car forum if the car in question/being criticized is the respective car of the forum being posted.

This second video, to my naked untrained unprofessional eyes do not appear to exhibit any of the problems of the first video. You can see in this video 2xGT3RS followed by C8 and they are pretty close. There does not appear to be any slower traffic anywhere and the cars are being driven pretty well. Lots of turns and lots of straights and the 3800 lbs 495 hp Chevy keeps up pretty well.

I said it was comparable to the RS. If you want to drive a Chevrolet Corvette, have at it.

One time I was on track in my Viper ACR and was passed by a Mustang that looked pretty stock, repeatedly. Moral of the story is that the ability of the driver makes all the difference in the world. How can people even compare cars on track driven by drivers we know nothing about??? BTW I didn't bother watching the video.

Agree. OP misses the point regarding driver ability.

These videos are meaningless unless and until you have comparable drivers or the same driver back to back.

Vette might be quicker than the RS, might be slower, might be equal. We dont know. Neither does OP or his videos.

And even if the vette is faster than RS, I'd still take the styling, sound, feel, weight, handling (list goes on and on) of the RS.

I am not with you on the RS bring driven well. It takes a really good driver to push the RS to its limits.

I have a GT3RS, C8, and a ZR1. They’re all great in their own unique way. The C8 drives like a GT4 to me.

That kid in the C8 is still a better driver then that Red GT3RS he 1st starts driving better at 4:20 seconds and only for a few laps.
Instead of headers and all the other nonsense most of the guys put on driving lessons and track time is the key.
Probably only a handful of you guys know this already.

In the spirit of comparison rather than picking nits, it looks like the C8 is a good track car. The usual nits though in any of these comparisons are there:

- Controlled conditions - tires, conditions drivers etc.
- Skilled driver/same driver
- Different tracks play into strengths of different cars

And on and on and on and on and on....

So, this may help, no RS but...

The RS was 34 seconds faster on the Ring than the current C8. You have to remember the C8 is the Base Carrera or Carrera S model. The true test will be C8 Z06 vs 992 GT3RS.

Been watching a few of that guys vids driving several cars and from his car control skills, you can tell he is a really fast/fearless driver. From what we've seen in objective track testing, the C8 punches above its weight and is probably easier to drive fast for the average track guy vs a Porsche. The Z06 is going to be something to reckon with..suspect will be very close to or match the 992 GT3/RS and probably faster for average track guy.
