    Hi Stan,

My name is James Gardner and I live in the Dallas TX area. I posted a PPI question on the board and your name came up by more than one person. I am looking at a 1991 928 S4 in West Chester. I am interested in doing a PPI on the car and would like to know if you would be able to perform one that includes the flex plate check for TBF. I already spoke to the dealer and told them that it would require more work than the normal PPI and he assured me that he was fine with whatever inspection I was willing to pay for. Please let me know your availability and an estimate for the inspection. Also feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Here is a link to the car.

    Hi Stan,
First.....thank you for assisting the folks on Rennlist with your time and expertise. I currently have an '89 S4 and have had a few different iterations, GTS, early Euro, etc. I've been reading forums since the Kempf OB days. Rennlist generates a lot of traffic these days making it somewhat less efficient to
    track down specific issues.
I'm interested to know if you would consider a little light consulting for diagnostics. In other words, if I compensate for your shop rate, would you be
willing to point me in the right direction regarding a specific issue. For example an intermittent start. We could use Zelle or PayPal, etc. In order to not
deny fellow Rennlisters educational information, at the conclusion of a successful repair I would generate a quick "how to" and post to RL.
Is this something you might consider ? If not, I certainly understand..........Sorry for barging in on a Sunday afternoon.

    The green car Hoi has is in good condition it has an erratic idle and this could possibly be due to using a non Bosch idle control valve that the next part i want to swap in.;
Other than that its much faster than the earlier car and it has a 5 speed and it has somewhat rarer colors and last i checked everything was working, its a good car.
The sunroof issue means you need to sit in a car to see if your head will touch,
the non sunroof cars have more headroom.
The crash damage was limited to the front PU cover and the bumper and shocks under it,
both were replaced as well as the bumper shocks.
The radiator lower support also was bent up,
I straightened it while the front end was off the car,
its not perfect but otherwise will not cause any operational issues, and most will probably miss that fact it was bent.
Good luck on your search, Stan

Stan, I'm looking for a 928 and have 2 that are high on my list. One you worked on and is for sale by Hoi Lee. Its the 86 moss green over tan. He showed me receipts of engine and drivetrain work you did on it. Not sure if you remember the car, but could you let me know your impressions on it from what you remember? It had a salvage title, I guess from MD, but if its from the pole hit in front that didn't seem like much damage. The pics shows the car very well. For comparison I'm also looking at a white over blue 82 that is getting a TB and WP now. I haven't sat in one yet but am concerned that a sunroof car will be a problem as I'm 6'2". Looking forward to your reply. Feel free to send it to scottpers@gmail.com. Thanks!

Mrmerlin, You certainly have a World of Respect! My son has an 84 928 and lives in Philadelphia. Are you available to just take a look at the car and offer some opinions? He has had all of the maintenance done by 2 different Porsche Mechanics to get in sorted since he purchased it from Delaware about 2 years ago. We would value someone of your caliber and integrity to critique and suggest things to us. I am sur ethat your time is minimal, but if possible please let me know. Have a Great Day. And Thank you for Helping teh 928 Folks!!!!!

    Hello Mr. Merlin,
I met you at the last Porsche Swap Meet in Hershey. I had the 1982 Hellblau metallic 928. Can you please contact me regarding doing some work on my car. I live in Lancaster so it's not too far away from you.

    Thank you very much.

Stan. My name is Gary Moore, I bought the 85 ROW from you a few years back. I am interested in an auto, S3 or S4. Not so fond of clutches anymore.
The car has not changed much, just turned 100,000 yesterday.
If you have something or get something and would consider taking the 85 back in trade, please let me know.
    Color matters though.
    Thanks

Hello Mr. Merlin/Stan. I recently purchased a 928 and wonder if you would be interested working on it. Car was featured on BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-porsche-928-5/. I am near Buffalo. Even though the car has some problems, the engine is strong and I have no problems driving this distance. If you are willing, I could leave the car with you for a few days while in NYC, and would plan around your schedule. I am also registered to attend the 928 meeting in the Adirondacks, in mid-June, so I hope to see you then.

The known issues are: gears grinding (1st, 2nd and reverse); oil leak in/near the front of the engine; A/C does not function; surging idle; speedometer sometimes does not function, and the odometer is stuck at 89,500; Fog lights are out; outboard mirrors need adjustment to fit my viewing preference.

I can wrench on my '69 Giulia, but this car is overwhelming to me, and I could really use your help.

    Thanks for your time, Paul
