Description:
Hi Everyone,
For sale is my 997.2 Carrera S. First and foremost: the car has a previous flood/salvage title from 2015. I understand this will limit the buyer pool and the car is priced accordingly. That being said, this was the first non-clean title car I bought and it has exceeded my expectations and has proven to be a strong, well-sorted driver example with no indication it was in a flood 10+ years ago.
Car Basics:
2011 Porsche Carrera S Coupe
WP0AB2A96BS720496
Cream white exterior / special Cocoa full leather interior
6 speed manual
117,000 miles
SOLD
Original MSRP was $115,700 (for reference a base 2011 GT3 had the exact same MSRP). I believe less than 100 manual C2S coupes were produced in 2011 and I can't imagine many of those were in cream white. Monroney label attached.

I purchased this car 4 months ago with plans to keep it forever. Unfortunately, I am having some back issues and will need a car that is higher. That being said, I had a $1200 PPI done 4 months ago to check for any signs of flood issues, overrevs and bore scoring. I have no problem sharing the report with potential buyers, but keep in mind the report is from 4 months / 6k miles ago. I have not abused this car and have followed strict guidelines to making sure this car lasts (no long idling, keeping it below 3k rpm until 175-200F, etc.). Quick summary of PPI below:
- Valvetronic catless headers are dented (being they are the lowest point on the car)
- Overrev report
- Range 1: 17,599 ignitions (146.6 seconds) @ 4,435.4hr
- Range 2: 1,167 ignitions (9.7 seconds) @ 4,435.3hr
- Range 3: 13 ignitions (0.1 seconds) @ 3118hr
- Range 4: 8 ignitions (0.07 seconds) @ 3118hr
- Range 5-6: 0 ignitions
- Operating hrs: 4,439.5
- Given the duration and how long ago the range 3&4 ignitions were, I was assured this is a non-issue.
- Airbags never deployed
- Front tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sports produced 2019. 40% tread depth
- Rear tires: Michelin Pilot Super Sports produced 2021. 50% tread depth
- Front brakes: 4-5mm
- Rear brakes: 4-5mm
- Front bumper has a scratch (though I believe it is on the PPF), rear bumper has scratches and wheels have curb rash.
- Front bumper, passenger rear door area and rear bumper have been previously painted.
- Bores were scoped for scoring and noted slight scoring. I was assured this is normal for the mileage. (I'll also add, in the last 6k+ miles I have put on this car, there has been 0 oil consumption)
I have 1 key and title in my name in hand. I've been fortunate to experience manual .2s ownership for a hefty discount. It has been rainy here in Southern California the last several days, but I can share many additional photos with prospective buyers. I will update listing as I find time to take dedicated listing photos. I welcome PPIs, am happy to FaceTime out-of-state buyers and more than happy to show the car in person. I've tried to be as transparent as possible, but please let me know if I can answer any further questions.
I know errors can happen, my recently acquired .1 shows 1 ignition in each of range 4, 5 and 6. How could that be right?
Not meaning to side track your sale, good luck with it but you probably won’t need it!

I'm not a DME expert, but the way I understand it is the same as @Sylverlee . The way it was explained to me is that the hours only represent the last ignition at that range, not the duration of time the engine was continuously operated there - in this case, the last Range 1 ignition happened 6 minutes after the last Range 2 ignition. As far as I understand, Porsche does not provide timestamps for individual events within each range, just cumulative counts and the hour of the last event.
- the time listed is the engine time of the last ignition event in that particular range.
- the event counter only happens for ignitions that happen in the given range. a range 4 overrev ignition does NOT increment the counters for ranges 1, 2, or 3.
after some hundreds of hours after a high range overrev, the engine is generally considered to be safe, especially if those engine hours are also reflected in the range 1 as that indicates the engine has been actually used since the high range overrev. in this particular case, there have been over a thousand hours since the range 4 with plenty of range 1 in the meantime. this car is properly driven and the engine should be A-OK.

As you can tell, I am still updating the listing as I go (just added prior bigger service items). I am hoping to have proper listing photos uploaded this coming weekend.

Just to clarify for anyone following along: the full factory exhaust will likely be re-installed this weekend, and the factory suspension (w/ PASM) is included with the sale.
I assume that work is still pending next week?
Have you received an estimate on reinstalling the OEM suspension?
I’ll update the post if the deal falls through, but as of now it looks like the car will be going to a great home with a fellow Rennlister.
