Did this retrofit on my 2019 Macan and the results was astonishing! All the functions worked as intended and I didn't even need to code the car! You will still use your existing button on the steering wheel , nothing will be affected

Also, for the installation, does the battery need to be fully disconnected without a memory saver power source due to the airbag removal or can an aux/memory saver power source be used to prevent full power disconnection?

The Chrono activation module is aftermarket part which allow your Chrono feature to be activated in car.

I’m curious about the airbag and how you remove it without accidentally activating it. I don’t see instructions for removing the steering wheel.

It is so easy to do and take about 5mins to remove

and you should not need to worry about activating it , it is just a plug .

here is a video that first part shows you how to remove it , it is very easy

Is the battery disconnected during this process and for the retrofit to an existing wheel, does the whole steering wheel need to come off or only the airbag for this installation?

you can disconnect it as precaution, but not really necessary.
you do need to take it whole steering off , but that is very standard procedure, you can check many videos on YouTube, really just take about 5mins to do.

for 2021 model , I suggest to get our full carbon steering wheel with sport Chrono activated and skip track button enabled
