I have collection of various screws (no nails) that have found their way into my tires. Most have penetrated the rear tire of my 911 (991.2). A couple didn't actually go completely through. I was able to pull them out. We live in a developing area with lots of construction. Hence the screws and nails. I must admit though, I never had a flat caused by a house key.
I hear you. Literally the day after mounting these Contis on my daughter's car, she hit this cutter that bounced off a work truck. The missing half of the cutting mechanism is what punctured the tire and then broke off.
I had this happen to me the other day. Unrepairable. Unfortunately, the tires are fairly worn and cant just fit one. So two already fitted (rears) and the front two on order for fitment this week. Damn it.
Tire Rack was sold out of these tires, so I went to my local Porsche dealer who had them in stock. Amazingly, the dealer price (Installed) was less than Tire Rack's installed. Plus, I showed my PCA membership card which was good for 10% off both parts and labor. I was able to get her Macan back on the road in a day, too.
So, when you need a tire or a set, be sure to check the dealer price - sometimes they are priced OK and if a PCA member you do get that discount as well

I second this: two different Porsche dealers here have matched TireRack prices when I brought it up.
During my PPI on my 997 at Sewickley Porsche in PA, it was determined I needed 2 new rear tires. They bought them from Tire Rack and sold them to me at the website price. This was back in 2012 so they may have been doing competitive tire pricing for a while now.
Porsche (NA) sources their tires from Tire Rack. That inventory is kept separate from what TR shows on their web site. The negotiated price Porsche pays is less than what's on TR web site. So, your local dealer can meet or beat (if they want) TR prices when they resell to you.
Just had my first bad flat at around 35k miles -- big hole, not repairable. Tires need replacement, anyway, and seems worth paying an extra $100 for coverage on two new tires. Have been going to Discount Tire for decades and they always deliver a great sales experience.
Had to go with Pirellis instead of Goodyears, so we'll see how long they last. BTW, what's the link to the big, private Porsche Macan sales site?
