I once owned a 991.2 GTS and the oil change was easier than on most cars. Porsche stealership would charge over $500. Ridiculous!
Regarding the V6 (3.0 or 2.9), I haven’t read or seen any derogatory reports. They appear to be rock solid power plants otherwise the talent at VAG would not use them in their cars, Porsche or Audi.

There are but I don't know which ones work on the latest gen Macans. I'm sure someone on here knows.

how about the transfer case issue? I heard it is still ongoing, even for the latest 2023-24 models?

i had two Audis back in the day with the 2.8 V6. Nothing but trouble.
But once the 2.9 is inserted into a Porsche, it will magically transformed to a much better product. Which is why I am planning to order a Macan S.
The Audi 2.8 V6 design (circa 1990's) has nothing to-do with the current Audi 2.9 and 3.0 V6 engines. And the Audi 2.9 and 3.0 engines are 99% the same, other than a slightly shorter stroke on the 2.9, and two turbos instead of one.

Current Macan with 2.9TTV6 uses a different t/case compared with the earlier version used with the 3.6LV6.

Insufficient information on the new t/case because it is relatively new. Used on Cayenne and Audi models also.

No, the Macan Transfer Case is the same design as introduced in 2015, other than improved durability/hardened clutch discs (used since sometime in 2018).
This Transfer Case is unique to the Macan, not used in any other Porsche or Audi.

The improved Macan Transfer Case seems to have fixed the original problem, but there still are a few cases of late-model failures.

Just picked up a 2018 GTS with 38K miles and here's the list of known issues that I've been able to assemble:
1. Transfer Case failures (warrantied)
2. Cam Cover Gasket oil leaks (I 've have this and will be repaired, warrantied)
3. Air Suspension (this too, will be repaired, warrantied)
4. Leather Dash lifting up (yep, this too, warrantied)
5. Coolant Line Hoses (will crack and leak out fluid)
6. Water Pump failures
7. ...
