Macan V6 - how reliable?
I’m considering buying a 2022 Macan GTS or S and I’m starting my due diligence process. Trying to get a sense for how reliable these cars are. Any input would be appreciated. I have browsed this forum a bit, but I still don’t have a great sense for general reliability and common problems.

Nothing on the 2.9l vehicles that is common yet like the older timing cover or transfer case issues.

I have three Porsches in my garage currently, one of them is the wife's Macan S with the V6. Super reliable. I've been driving Porsche for 41 years, of all the various car brands I have owned, Porsche has been the one you can beat on the hardest and they last the longest. As Carol Shelby once said "It's a good thing Le Mans is only 24 hours and not 48, because if it were 48, the only thing left running would be Porsches". I have owned 8 total.
Zero issues on the Macan S, Not one. It's a 2020, with 12K miles on it.

Have a 2017 S with over 50k miles and have not had one single issue. It has probably been the best car I've ever owned (including Benz, BMW and other Porsches). Based on this, I just took delivery of a second one, a 2021 S and gave the 2017 to my daughter. Now watch this new one be total crap! lol
Great car. Highly recommend!

It is an Audi engine. Be very afraid.

As opposed to the genuine Porsche engines that all seem to develop $14,000 oil leaks?

Advanced
My 15 S had 37k miles on it no issues. Current 17 turbo had a speaker issue at 48k miles fixed under warranty currently sits at 61k miles. Other than that no issues and no engine or transmission issues. Not sure how many miles you expect to put on your car but I’ve been very happy with my experiences thus far.

i had two Audis back in the day with the 2.8 V6. Nothing but trouble.
But once the 2.9 is inserted into a Porsche, it will magically transformed to a much better product. Which is why I am planning to order a Macan S.

Engine appears to be reliable. The internal electronics, maybe not so much. I had my PCM ('21 GTS) replaced at 2K miles bc navigation stopped working. I waited 2 months for replacement. Replacement lasted 1 day and had same navigation issue with screen just spinning then goes blank. I waited until I needed 1 year oil service and brought it back in. Third replacement for past month and appears to be working for now.

Our 2021 Macan S has also been great so far @ 12k miles. Only time will tell if the Audi V6 will hold up long term but it appears that it's design may yield better results moving forward over the Porsche V6 engine surprising as that may seem.
Reliability is highly overrated anyways so don't let that completely sway you if a Macan is what you want. Most cars today are so boring and homogenous that I'm willing to trade a little potential reliability to drive something interesting enough to be worth owning.
