Yeah, the 9A1s have been fine but it seems that a vast proportion of the 95B.1 Macan V6s have the high-$$$ oil leak issue. Going by reports on RL and elsewhere, it's almost as expensive to fix as the old IMS failures were, if you get stuck with the bill.

The Audi V6s in the 95B.2 aren't the world's sexiest, most refined/prestigious engines, but I don't expect a lot of drama from them, long-term. We'll see.

I put 40k miles on a 2015 S with zero problems. No oil leaks, no transfer case issues, no squeaks. Just did all the recommended services at dealership that has competitive prices with the better indys in my area, an there are some good ones. I traded for 2018 Turbo in 1019 and so far have no issues at all. Yes, I keep the transfer case letter that Porsche sent in the glovebox!

My 991 C2S is approaching 10 yrs of ownership and apart from factory fixit campaigns has had nothing go wrong.

Trolls aside, and there are plenty, I think some people extrapolate way too loosely from legit forum reports.

We have a '19 S with approx 20K. Only problem we have had it in for is the high gloss black window trim develops cracks. Don't know if people put pressure on it to close the doors but the SA says it happens often on the later cars

2016 Macan S. Just passed 170,000 miles. Burns no oil. Oil changes every 7.5-10,000 miles. No major problems. Sometime well after 100,000 miles developed timing cover leak. The dealer fixed it for me for $129. Replaced a couple bolt and used some sealer. No leaks now.

Thanks for all the responses. I decided to go with a Cayenne GTS instead of a Macan, because I just need the extra space inside the car. Since my car will have the V8, I am not considering this issue anymore.

I had the Macan at the indy for an oil change and the tech drives a 2015 Macan S with 150k miles, he said it drives great and has seen very few Macan issues in the shop.

I am also looking at purchasing a 2022 Macan S and was interested in hearing if anyone does their own maintenance on the vehicle and if so how difficult it is to do services like oil change, differential/transfer case fluid changes, brake services and things like that on the 2.9 L engine. I have always done most of the maintenance on my cars so I have a pretty good understanding of working on cars. This is going to be my first Porsche and being at the lower end of Porsche buyers age demographic at 22, I am hoping to be able to do much of the maintenance myself to save some money.

3.0 V6 - 130K miles, not a single problem. This is the Porsche engine (not the Audi 2.9 V6).
According to the oil leak thread at this forum, not a single engine was broken because of the oil leak since 2014. Not even an alternator was broken because of the oil leak.

Some "mechanics" see an opportunity here to make a lot of money. They are spreading partial information to misguide Macan owners. Watch out!
