Default Macan Stop Sale

Hi Guys - I am new to this group. About 6 weeks ago I bought a 2017 Macan from a Porsche dealer. When the truck arrived to get my car they said there was a stop sale because of some recall. The car has since been stuck at the dealership who refuses to release the car, even though it’s fully paid for. They have been unable to give me an update and when/ how this could be resolved. Any thought would be very appreciated. Thx!

Sounds fishy to me. Ask them for a copy of the recall notice.

Maybe they got a better offer from another buyer. Didn't think Porsche dealer would stoop that low, but have to believe the worst till they show otherwise.

In 6 weeks, should be possible to fix the issue.

Hopefully this link will take you to the NHTSA web site showing all recalls for the 2017 Macan. The top on on the list is a March 2021 recall on the passenger side vehicle occupancy sensor mat. You may have to do some scrolling to get down to the safety/recall info.
https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2017/P...UV/AWD#recalls

March 3, 2021 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 21V131000
Front Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor Mat May FailThe air bag will not deploy during a crash if a front passenger is undetected, increasing the risk of injury.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V131000

Dealers can not sell *new* cars with active recalls, but can sell used ones. However, even then they can’t sell cars that are “unsafe”. Lots of dealers might anyways (law is less clear here). But if there is an active *safety* recall, more and more dealers won’t take the risk.

Does your Macan have Sport Chrono? There has been a Stop Sale on Porsches with SC for an emissions problem.

That Stop Sale only covers 2012-2016 (AFAIK), and this one is a 2017

DEALERS SHOULD NOT SELL, LEASE, RENT, OR LOAN ANY NEW OR USED VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AFFECTED BY THIS NOTIFICATION PRIOR TO REMEDY. DEALERS GROUNDING LEASE RETURNS SHOULD REMEDY ALL AFFECTED GROUNDED VEHICLES.

First, i have no idea why you revived this thread since it's been dead a while.
Second, you are quoting what Porsche wants them to do, not what the law allows/doesn't allow.
I'm telling you what the law says, and that' even what the notice you pulled that from says.

It's interesting that you deliberately cut off the sentence before the one you started quoting at, which says exactly what i did:
"IT IS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW FOR DEALERS TO DELIVER TO CUSTOMERS NEW VEHICLES IN THEIR INVENTORY AFFECTED BY THIS NOTIFICATION UNTIL THESE VEHICLES ARE REMEDIED."

Notice it says NEW, like i said.
It is not a violation of federal law for dealers to deliver USED vehicles affected by the notification.

Porsche may or may not get upset with them if they do.
You can easily verify this information is correct with a Google search.
Or you could continue this dumb thread necromancy and ignore reality.

The recall is a non-fix at this point as when I checked Porsche doesn't even have a parts list for the fix, let alone 40,000 replacement mats. Why they wouldn't push the transaction through with a waiver is beyond...

I bought my ‘17 GTS as a CPO. Took it in for a power steering failure. Found out the car couldn’t be CPO’d because of the recall. Dealer sold tve car as a CPO if thought it couldn’t be CPO’d at the time. They offered a full refund or wait until the fix is issued.in the meantime, i just got an email stating th car would be CPO’d once the sensor is replaced

I was trying to test drive a 2017 GTS and it has been stuck in the lot since June. Best estimate for getting parts was today (10/01) but doesnt look like that happened so could be a while for Porsche to get parts.

i love the car, but wife is getting impatient with Porsche fix so I could take them up on their reluctant offer of taking the car back. I would take her sapphire blue cayenne gts and then we would get who knows.

If you go to the 991 forum there is a lengthy discussion about this. Guessing the reason for the stop sale on the 991 is the same as macans.
