Never underestimate Porsche's desire to make their cash cow as cost-effective as possible.

The GT2 RS has some brackets made there.

As for simple switches and electronic components, I suspect a lot of it comes from there.

Most businesses value engineer their products. Probably the only cars not subject to value engineering are F1 and LMP1.

Agreed - I should have included the implied "and not tarnish the Porsche name"

If you don't like it, tell Porsche then vote with your wallet.

Honestly, all I'd be concerned about is whether it's a good quality part/design. Are you experiencing problems with it?

You have to expect that with the sales volume that Porsche does on Macans, the suppliers for building it are going to be spread out across the globe. The wonders of modern manufacturing!

Hard to do, especially when the GT2 RS has parts made there.

You'd spend thousands of hours and many more dollars to redesign every part in the car that might have originated there.

They could have cast the info on the underside, then you'd never know..

I remember when "Made In Japan" was the mark of a surefire lemon.

Would you feel better if it was made in Alabama?

Hey Hey Hey - that's a little too close to home. Every Mercedes SUV is made in Alabama, including the Maybach SUV, and they aren't too bad.

If you don't like things made in Alabama, best stay away from 2022 Mercedes electric SUV's, certain Toyota and Mazda high-volume cars, Toyota engines, etc.

Oh, yeah - Honda Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline and their V6 motors are made in Alabama.

And don't forget NASA and the space program as a whole. Engines are made in Alabama, along with a whole host of other components, much less all of the engineers designing a lot of this stuff sitting in Huntsville.

Yes - you'll see your fair share of stupid lazy people around Alabama, but there's a ton of hard-working/well-educated folks, too.

Everything I own and have owned 'Made in Japan' has been of the highest quality and very robust. (1985>) I have a 30 year old Onkyo CD player still going strong.

You have to go back 20 years further than that. Japan was known for pumping out cheap knockoff crap that would break if you looked at it wrong. There was no way they were ever going to compete with the West. Quality and innovation just weren't in their cultural makeup.

First we ignored them, then we laughed at them, then we fought them, and then they won, at least as far as the auto industry was concerned. Now, let's see how a country run by immoral lawyers and real-estate hucksters fares against a country run by amoral engineers...

That was my point!

There is no reason to assume that the part made in China or in Alabama would not meet Porsches standards.

Anyone (such as the OP) who bought a 991 and dealt with change over valves (made in Germany) knows that- and was just having a bit of fun.
