Expensive to maintain though (more than any other P-car I've owned).
Interesting. Why so expensive to maintain? Wear items like brakes and tires or mechanical or electronic failures, like valve cover leaks, transfwr cases, transmissions, etc?

Just configurated a 2020 GTS with all the things I didn't get the first time. If I had one car choice in my garage, the others would be voted off the island.

Default Unequivocally yes.

We picked up our Macan GTS in Leipzig just over 4 years ago. It is an amazing jack of all trades daily driver vehicle that is so much fun to drive.
We have driven it across the continent in the middle of winter, the middle of summer, driven in the city, the country, mild off-roading, outstanding (except the off-roading which is good enough, and way better than it should be).
Have no regrets.

I custom built a beautiful 2018 Carmine Red GTS chocked full of options, picked her up at PEC Atlanta February 2018. God I loved that car. I babied that car the 2.5 years and 16,500 miles I had her for. I was rear ended in the middle of May and my insurance company decided to total it when structural damage was found. I wanted to cry when I got the news the first week in June. Thank God for total new car replacement on my policy. I now have a 2021 GTS on order and built it very close to the car she is replacing but I also added a few things I didn’t know about the first time and a few other options that I thought what the heck and added on for giggles and grins. I am slated for a late November early December PEC delivery. Here’s hoping the next few months fly by fast.

I'm not starting a thread for this, but the 2020 GTS is nearly 5% (200lbs) heavier than the old one, but the power and torque are not 5% more.
What have they spent 200lbs on? Is that 2.9 heavier than the 3.0?

I actually traded a 991.2 Cab for my Macan, and as you can see by my avatar and signature I ordered (or thought I did) a 992 Targa. My plan was to trade my Macan for the 992 next spring. I just found out that the dealer didn't get any Targa allocations, and my order is probably going to be canceled. I told him that I'm really enjoying the Macan, and I was neither upset or disappointed that I might have to wait a year or two to get a Targa. It's that great of a car.

After 4 years and 140,000 miles I am strongly in the "no" camp. Few issues but when they arise they are impossible to repair or really really expensive for parts. Short term or new car for a couple years - sure - but that's not how we do cars.

I tend to buy and drive cars into the ground. 10 plus years with 200-300,000 miles. This will be the first car I won't be able to get to that point.

Unfortunately I believe this to be true for just about any modern, higher end, luxury vehicle.

As someone who also keeps vehicles long term I’ve come to accept that there really isn’t any new car out there these days that is going to make that 10yr 200+k mi mark without extensive or cost prohibitive repairs.

Precisely why I'm never selling my 2008 V8 Touareg (86k babied miles) with a/s and a ton of mods. As long as I can find the electronics, she's a keeper.

2016 Macan S

Just for additional info for German cars I have a 2008 Audi Q7 with the 3.6 at 210,000 and going strong a 2008 535xi also well over 200,000k. I fix all the leaks, suspension, routine maint myself and budget $1-2k per year in maint and have not gone over.

But yeah. I see why modern German cars plummet so quickly.

It's my wife's car and she drives a lot. Usually get to 200k before she moves on and I get to fix it. I'm just probably going to get her a new car and repair the macan issues myself and if it down for a few weeks so be it.

Ditto, just sold the wife's 2008 V6 FSI Touareg as I had reached the end of what was reasonable in terms of reverse engineering (redesigned the oil feed for the filter, HIDs, heated steering wheel, LCA (that was a **&^^&* to install), reverse LED light pod, LEDs...) but with 106k miles it was time for a last new vehicle for her. So sold the Touareg to a friend and got her the Macan mainly for safety feature I couldn't reverse engineer into her car (or it would have been prohibitive to do so). As you, I do all my own work (once it's out of warranty). Remember the cheapest car you'll ever own is the one you currently have.

I got into the Porsche scene late. After I fell in love with my 2018 911 Base C2, I needed a Targa!! Waited for the 992 to hit (didn't care for the interior pics). After seeing the 992 in person I scrambled hard to find a New 991.2 Targa. In 2019 October -December there were slim pickens. Finally found a Targa 4S in January. 2019 Carrera White Metallic w/ Full Natural Leather in Espresso. To my Macan point... I had a few loaners, Incredible!! Fun, Fun, Fun!! We are building one now.

Not sure if I will get another. Really like the car, 2018 GTS, but I think Porsche Connect is awful.
