I was at the Philadelphia Auto Show yesterday and spent some time chatting with a Porsche representative. I explained that I am planning on buying a Macan in the next 6-12 months, likely an S or GTS. He suggested I wait for next model year, since the Macan "will have substantial changes." He wasn't sure if this was related to the engine configurations or the overall styling. This is the first I've heard of changes for the 2021 Macan. Does anyone know anything definitive on this, or just rumor at this point?
95B.2 facelift is only a year old, hard to believe there would be any significant changes until the next gen "EV" Macan which is probably a '22 or '23 MY.
I suppose 'substantial' is a relative term, but Porsche did roll out a number of updates for the 2017 model year (LED PDLS+, PCM 4.0, CarPlay, etc...). It doesn't seem too unreasonable there would be at least some interesting changes for 2021. Maybe a Turbo S with a tweaked power plant, but aside from that I wouldn't expect any substantial mechanical changes.
Typical cycle is four years, refresh, and then three more model years. 2015 - 2018 was the introductory body style, and the refresh should be from 2019 - 2021. Expect a 2022 model in the fall of 2021. Expect a GTS model two years later in the fall of 2023.
I'm not sure if this Porsche rep really knew what he was talking about, but I agree that with the 2020 changes, I can't imagine major changes coming as soon as next year. He was implying a major body style change. I'm skeptical.
The current Macan is a great vehicle. Why don't you get one and in 3 years just get the new one, which may be in its second year. The Porsche rep doesn't seem to know too much other than a change is coming and isn't quite clear on when either. Of course if you aren't satisfied with what you have test driven, best to wait.

I just bought a 2020 with exactly this in mind....I can honestly say its an amazing car! Cant figure out how they got it to handle so well, with minimal body roll!!
