I'm new to this forum. Sadly, my new Porsche Macan got vandalized while parked next to my home. The hood is scratched pretty bad. I filed a police report and spoke to my insurance. I have a quick questions, would it be better to take it to Porsche for the bodywork?.
Also, I need recommendations for a dashcam that works while the car is parked/turned off as well.
It looks like a targeted attack because it says “F**k ______”. Those letters and numbers mean nothing to me, but if they mean something to you, it looks like you have an enemy. I don’t use a dash cam, but i park the car beneath CCTV’s at home and at work.
You don’t necessarily have to go to a Porsche approved shop - repainting a hood should be a straightforward job to any well-recommended shop. But your insurance should let you go to the shop of your choice so if your heart is set on a PACC, then go for it. Personally, it’s more important to me to see examples of their work, reviews of their service, and feedback from other super picky people; than the Porsche certification.
Although it might seems like a targeted attack (with those words), I truly do not have any enemies or issues with any of my neighbors. It seems like it is out of jealousy.

Indeed a good paint shop should be able to do a perfect job. I had some garage door scratches on my Cayman rear bumper repaired at a neighborhood paint shop and the results were outstanding.
Notably, the Macan has an aluminum hood, which typically requires a unique primer, but the shop should know that.
It's just stuff.
Though a wast of time and someone else's money (insurance, which we all ultimately pay for).
Could have been some tweaker, high on meth/crack with a big knife.
Any story you can tell, is a good story.
What language is that? Ahh, according to Google Translate, it's a dialect of Idiot. Sorry this happened to you. But at least it's just paint and no dents or other damage. People suck. Jealous people suck even more.
Paint it with Plasti Dip so you can drive it without being embarrassed. PD will cover the damage and is easily removed
Get a surveillance camera
Park as normal
Hopefully the rat puke brained perp will revisit and you'll be able to get video and identify the criminal
Probably more trouble than you want to take on, but until the loser is caught it could happen again
I wouldn't go with a dash cam, if you have trees, poles, etc. in the area you park, get an infared, bluetooth, deer camera, cheap, effective, easy, and stealthy..
instant pics right to your phone if you need a quick 911 response.
Sorry to see that. I have a BlackVue dash cam in my cars; front and rear. Easy to install, low-profile and reliable. Check out their site. I have the 750's in my cars.
As far as paint, I do not necessarily believe a Porsche certified shop is the end of the discussion. I look for recommendations from people who appreciate and take care of their cars. I then go look at the shop and talk to the owner/manager. I am very picky about my cars so once I find a shop I stick with them. I am in the Bay Area in CA and we have lots of traffic and idiots driving or trying to drive. Sadly, you can look at the cars and pretty much pick out the uninsured, unlicensed, undocumented drivers and I always try to stay away from them. I have seen people who fit that description hit people and just take off several times. I have actually turned over my camera images to the victim's of those people so they can hopefully identify them and hold them responsible.
Finally, I always think you get better advise when people can see where you live generally. No one wants your address, but a city and state should be sufficient to generate good feedback to your question. Good luck with the hood.
