Traded in our Macan Turbo w/PP
#32
Having recently traded a 2015 Macan S for a 2018 Macan Turbo. I recommend that interested parties swallow hard and if you can afford it, go for it.
The 3.6 Turbo is another thing altogether from the S. This car looks to be a gem and I would bet the smiles per mile will rapidly justify a premium.

I’m glad you appreciate the way I specced it!

$90,000 now. I wonder whether OP posting what he got for the car on trade is hurting the sale price. Maybe not - most owners probably don't surf here. On the other hand, if the dealer does and sees the OP's post, can't be too helpful when he comes in for service and needs a favour.

My take is a price in high 80's will convert...

I believe the cars comes without the Panoramic sun roof as it’s a $1,670 option on the 2020 Macans.
The sun roof is included in the Premium Package Plus - these are the items that are included in that package:

Exactly. Regardless, every buyer has to decide for themselves what their respective reserve price is, looks like we did not hit it yet.

The Internet has created an unprecedented degree of transparency. Unless the seller signs an NDA, Dealerships should expect that their trade-in values are known and price accordingly. Building a business model on opaque pricing isn't sustainable (or customer friendly).

Its one thing to post what you got for your vehicle in trade without naming the dealer, its another thing to post the name of the dealer so someone you don't even know can go in to that dealer and tell him they know what his cost as a way of diminishing the dealer's potential profit. Would you like that if you were the dealer? I wouldn't and I wouldn't be doing you any favours either.
If the dealer doesn't and shouldn't be expected to mind people knowing what its cost is, maybe they should just publish the invoice, holdback and other incentives they have on new cars too. But they don't - and you wouldn't either.
I've bought BMWs for years at invoice or invoice plus and the dealer has asked me to not disclose the deal to others. I guess they feel like they don't mind some "skinny" deals for repeat customers, but they don't want everyone out there knowing that deals can be had for invoice or invoice plus - it would quickly destroy the dealer's margin.
I recently traded a Cobalt 21' bow rider for a new 24' Cobalt at our local dealer. The 21' boat had an MSRP of over $90,000 and sat on the dealer's lot for 2 years before I bought it new. I got a fabulous trade in value for it and a decent discount on the new boat. I spend some time on the Cobalt forum and someone PM'd me saying he put it together that I must be the past owner of 21' boat asking questions about it and what I got for it on trade. I basically told him that the boat was a good value given its MSRP and that it had been a pleasure to own, but I wanted a larger boat. The guy bought the boat.
When I went in to pick up my new boat the dealer thanked me for helping to facilitate the sale. I'm thinking he is going to remember the help when I trade my boat for the next one. I can only imagine that he'd not have been too happy if I told the buyer the actual trade price and that he could likely have saved himself $x,xxx on the boat (at the dealer's expense).
Transparency on the internet has nothing to do with this.

That's a 1-off vehicle. If anyone owns a Turbo right now, you know the difference the PP would give you. The price is a little high, but if it hits 85, everyone will think it's a good idea too.

I put together a quick and dirty graphic from Cobb's dyno charts, and stage 1 on the Turbo and Turbo PP end up at about the same place. Obviously the stock tune on the PP has a higher baseline.
Solid lines = Turbo PP
Faded lines = Turbo
