dang, sorry to hear that. I have very similar stats as you, no failure yet. Mine is April '16 build. Next track day April 24th. I'm wondering how many GT4s they produced in the March-May 2016 time frame? Maybe 300-ish? And there are 20+ failures documented here...

Brief recount of the failure - under power in 3rd on no name straight Limerock, shudder then free rev

Tires - Dunlop

Other relevant info - mild track alignment, drove 115 miles home avoiding 3rd with no issues thanks to the good info here
I'm assuming your build was in March 2016, correct?

Both mooty and orthojoe had 2015 build failures, but I think that's it.

in hindsight have people seen, heard, noticed anything that indicated a failure was coming or something that was off slightly?

I'll be banging on 3rd gear next week at the Smokies GT event. Third had a good workout last year. The long 2nd and 3rd are perfect for a lot of those roads.

My car is an Oct 2015 build.

Perhaps December. I have not seen one failure with production dates before December 2015. It was actually speculated Getrag has changed the 3rd gear manufacturing process starting in December 2015.

No signs of imminent failure leading up to it. Not even the occasional grind between shifts that some owners have reported. The great information shared on this thread however helped to eliminate all the drama. Dropping the car off tonight and dealer is expecting a quick turn around. Will post results.

Two weeks ago I was running my car in a normal 30 minute session. On four instances I would upshift from 2nd to 3rd. It was as if I missed the gate completely; something that I never do. My car is a 4/2016 build date with 3,500 miles. I feel like I might have heard a grind in a session before that as well.

I haven't had a complete failure yet but the last time I drove it I am concerned it is imminent.

I am going to track it again this Friday and I am curious to see if I experience this again.

Bummer Joe. Hopefully it will be a quick repair and back to you sooner rather than later.
