Forgive me if you stated this, I did not see it, but did you tell them there are approaching 50 3rd gear failures documented on Rennlist? Clearly this information can easily be known by Porsche if they simply query to see how many 3rd gear failure, transmission warranty claims there have been.

Default PORSCHE WARRANTY OF GT4 TRANSMISSION

Porsche have made good on the warranty. Having an aftermarket differential complicated matters but an amicable solution was reached with PCNA.

Wow, I think you've got an uphill battle with that, plus at some point you've got the expense of installing the LSD back into the replacement tranny. That just sucks!

I'm speaking to the group. Nobody is assuming any thing about what you will or won't do. Don't kill the messenger, mate.

I am hopeful GT4 owners can achieve what the GT3 group did with the engine warranty issue.

I've expressed my skepticism from day one. There won't be a recall. There may eventually be a service bulletin where anyone with a failure is streamlined through the repair process. I suspect the only reason you are fighting this battle is because you openly admitted you modified the Transmission. I wish you the best.

Do we have anyone in the group that had an LSD installed break 3rd? I'd be curious. If so, and Porsche did honor the warranty then I would use that to your advantage.

To those of us that have yet to break 3rd, maybe we should hold back on any transmission mods.

I've got shops and end users reaching out to me asking when the 3rd gears will be available intending to address it when, or sometimes before, it breaks. People here are reporting warranty attempts. There's another group of guys who are treating it as a cost of ownership of a track car and aren't on the list.

If you value the drivetrain warranty I would skip the lsd. The stock lsd is poor but it works a bit and for a while. If I owned one I would track a season on one before addressing it. And hey, if you pop 3rd you get another new lsd in the replacement box.

Hey GTgears, would be interested in your perspective on whether the remanufactured gearboxes will have actually fixed the root cause of the 3rd gear problem, or are they just restoring them to the original build spec.

Just wondering whether we should be expecting another wave of broken 3rd gears once these remanufactured boxes get some track time into them.

I really have no idea. It would be pretty straight forward to revert to splined design. Whether or not they consider the issue big enough to do that is unknown. We will just need to wait and see.

So no Spyders reported. They do have the same gearbox?!
Maybe less track use or if it is build date dependent then maybe they were earlier (had a much shorter production run, started after the GT4,finished earlier)

Just trying to get a feel if this is something I need to worry about!

If you review the post history I believe you will find one Spyder failure.
