Yes, I've already been to see the dealer a few times to establish that relationship. Good news is we have a good dealer in Birmingham. The best news is that Barber is 10 miles from my house! I'm pumped about the car and have decided to proceed! Thanks for all the advice. YOLO!

100% agree that if possible, we should go the same route as the 991.1 GT3 owners to try to get extended warranty across all GT4s vs. waiting for a time bomb. I'm sure it would be easy to gather enough owner sigs to make a meeting happen.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but do we have connections with the 991.1 GT3 folks that met with Porsche? Perhaps we can use that as a bridge to see if we can bring this issue to the table with the same audience on Porsche's end.

I don't see Porsche going down this path for the GT4 transmission. To me the GT3 engine issue is on another level.

No they don't. They are giving that warranty based on a specific condition verified by Porsche; NOT on the complete engine.

Well maybe Khalifornia is different with its laws and the right lawyer.

Has anyone contacted NHTSA? I sure would if (when?) my 3rd gear goes. Who knows if there might be some kind of catastrophic effect while street driving? (I don't think NHTSA cares about track-related events.) Porsche might provide a different response from the one above if it was NHTSA who was contacting them.

I seriously doubt this would be considered a safety issue.
Coolant pipes popping on 997 GT cars was raised with NHTSA and they did nada.

Tires: RE71R (265/35R19 front, 285/35R19 rear)

Other relevant info: Stiffer springs, suspension mods for track alignment.

Happened at Buttonwillow #25CW, coming out of Grapevine in 3rd gear, full throttle, RPMs hit about 7000 and I was just about to shift to 4th when the car shuddered, and the engine hit the rev limiter briefly before I actually shifted to 4th. At first I thought I made a mistake and didn't lift as I pushed in the clutch, but then when I downshifted to 3rd up Phil Hill I realized what happened.

9 of the 27 track days the car was shared by my wife and me, so this really represents 18 track days in total, but from the car's perspective it's like 27 track days. We share the GT4 on road trips - and yes we trailer it. For Pacific Northwest tracks we typically drive our own cars - me in the Z06 or GT4, my wife in the GT4 or BRZ.

That said, we're on pace for 30 track days this year including Pacific Raceways, The Ridge Motorsports Park, Oregon Raceway Park (CW and CCW), Portland International Raceway, Thunderhill 3 w/ Cyclone, Thunderhill 5 w/ Cyclone and west bypass, Sonoma, Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow 25CW, Willow Springs, and Spring Mountain Motorsports Andretti B circuit.

We're looking to head more mid-west and east next year so if you have any recommendations for tracks we should visit - let me know!

National Corvette Museum, Barber and Road Atlanta are a few of the best in the south.... good luck with a quick repair!
