Anyone come from an S2000 to a GT4... Thoughts and perspectives?
Spoke with my sales guy yesterday and I am still on track to get a Q4 GT4 allocation with LWB. Now that it's starting to get real I'm having a difficult time deciding what to do.
I already have a car that's near and dear to me that ticks all the right boxes for a sunny day weekend track car. It's not comparable to the GT4 in terms of monetary value or even performance but it's just as raw, driver oriented, unique / limited and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Here's a pic of my humble ride...
Odds are that I can't keep both in the long term... something's got to go. So my choices are...
Sell the S2000 before the GT4 is delivered and risk having sellers remorse
Keep the S2000, take delivery of the GT4 spring 2016, drive both then decide
Find a buyer for my configurable allocation, pocket some $$$, hang my head in shame when posting on Rennlist
Appreciate anyones perspective who has faced a similar decision or even insights from current or former S2000 owners.
keep both. s2k is just a great car. i regret selling mine to make room for a 911 a few years ago. s2k has the best shifter on the planet, ever. gt4 is close, but not the same. besides, even here in spendy cali a stock mint s2k is on the low side of 20k, so it's not like you're parking a ton of money in it...
Not sure how a dealer can guarantee an allocation that he hasn't gotten. So I'd probably worry about this after you actually get one. I got a s2000 as well as a temp car while I'm waiting on the gt4. Great car.
But at this point with the uncertainty of the lwb (might want to read some threads about this in this forum) I am looking at option 2s. Not spending 100k if I can't get exactly what I want. Lwb is one of my deal breakers. Will hold off till end of year. At least you still have a fun car!

Sound advise, I'm with you in terms of not executing any of the above options until it's 100% confirmed.
I believe that my Porsche sales rep is basing his estimates on the rate at which the allocations are being handed out through out the year and the fact that I'm next in line. He is pretty confident that I will have an allocation but I also recognize your point that it is not a guarantee.
My deposit was taken in early February 2015 to give some context.
There is a nice one owner example for sale at Enthusiast Auto Group, usually only BMWs. Around 20k miles, I think $17k. Maybe vice versa.
Not saying that the S2000 is worth anywhere near the monetary value of a GT4 but over the almost 15 years of being on the S2000 forums, I have repeatedly heard of members selling their beloved S2000's for more expensive cars and having sellers remorse right after.
I guess it's one son those things that only current and former S2000 owners can appreciate.
Are you sure?... I'm all the way up in Canada. I'd be happy to oblige and entertain offers on my S2K from my southern neighbours but I just wanted to be clear that I'm located in the Greater Toronto Area up in the great white north.

Proud s2000 owner and new GT4 owner here. I have had the s2k for 10+ years and have a lot of other cars come and go (GTR, Exige S, ITR, etc). Nothing beats the fun to value ratio for me. Not to mention it has been reliable as a rock...
My vote for you would be option #2. Drive both for a bit then make the decision.
I know I wouldn't want to sell the s2k for a GT4...or well any car for that matter.

I just put 2 and 2 together.
You have a real Imola Orange S2000!!! Nice! I have seen the color here in the US but it was always a repaint. That is a super rare color for North America .

Yep, OEM Imola Orange... 1 of 34 in North America I'm told.
