Looking at the configurator, it seems they recently switched back to 2 way sport seats plus instead of 4 way. I do remember the basic sport seats plus were 4 way back in the 2017 generation, but the current configurator only shows 2 way sport seats plus. I wonder if the 2 ways are any lighter than the 4 ways.
Ive had 2 GT4s the first was the 2way sports the car weighed 3040 my second and current has the LWB and weights 3061 otherwise same spec and fuel level?? Had a 981S with the 2way that was 3022.carl
That's very interesting! Did the 2-way have a motor for the back angle or were they manual spring-loaded? This goes along with other testimonies I've read/heard that the 2-way SSP weigh close to (or maybe even less than) LWBS. Can we conclude/confirm if the 2-way SS Plus were available on 981 cars as an option? (The configurator is now gone, of course.)

That's great. Less "ways" means less motors, so 2-way must be lighter than 4-way. The lightest (non-LWB) seats would be the no-motor 2-ways, both SS and SSP.
I have 2-ways with the only motorized part being the back recline. Put a thread on here a while back when I had the occasion to remove the seats. Thread is https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/9850...seat-info.html. The passenger seat including base weighs 48 lb. Darn things are a PITA to get in and out by yourself...
the best seat is the one that fits YOU best. period. I am 5'11, 230lbs, with a 34" waist. I made a few paychecks playing football and still powerlift. I wear a 54R suit, and have to buy 40" waist pants, tailored down, to fit my thighs. please come show me how I fit comfortably in buckets.

I'm 6'2'' 300Lbs 42in waist and need to wear 44's just to clear my Thighs and calfs...(have been know to play a game of ice hockey every now and then)... and I fit snug as a bug with a 5 point harness. ??? Sure hope you did not sit in some motorsports buckets and come to this conclusion.
In the past, the base Sport Plus seat for the 911 was a 4-way seat, while the version for the Cayman/Boxster was only 2-way (recline only power adjustment.) I did not realize they had gone to 4-way for the 781. If that was the case and they now reverted to the 2-way, that would be yet another sign of cost cutting. (Another example of cost cutting I noticed is the cheaper hard plastic piece around the headlight switch and the ignition key receptacle. I realize this is veering off-topic for this thread...)
The 992 making its European debut will be the focus.
Whether Porsche will have completed Euro GPF testing and certification for the GT4 and Spyder, who knows. They won't release a USA only non-GPF version before obtaining Euro certification.
Are you sure about the 992 EU debuting in Geneva? I could swear I sat in a 992 in Brussels last week
The 991 launched in Frankfurt in September 2011 and debuted in Los Angeles a couple of months later. The 992 launched in LA and debuts in Geneva.
I expect Porsche would want to gain maximum exposure for their new top of the line 992 model to European audiences despite the fact that they have been available to order since December. Expect Porsche to focus on 992 and the electric future at Geneva.
A GT4 announcement would be a marketing distraction, and can easily be made separately at any time. I recall getting a call in February 2015 asking for a deposit for a July 2015 GT4 build, well before the Geneva world launch event. There were no GT4s to view in the UK until mid-June 2015 when en-route back from Spa I attended a low key event at Silverstone.
I think they are still working on GPF certification for normally aspirated cars, not an issue for USA market at present.
I don't see any reason why they wouldn't debut the GT4 at Geneva this year the latest they could push it would be New York. The 911 has already debut so it isn't a big announcement. Just remember the GT4 debuted alongside the GT3RS. The original unveil (internet) of the Gt4 was a digital release in February of 2015 that's why you got a call from your SA on it. I would hope we get a similar release this time around as well.

^^^^ This...also. No dealer had official PAG allocations until several weeks after Geneva. Any call, deposit or agreement was done without the dealer actually knowing how many they will be getting, very common.
Our dealer made a list but deposits were not accepted until the actual allocations were released.
I'm really hoping they do follow the same 981 launch schedule.....maybe some teaser during February????

Your’re probably right regarding 4 way seats. I was looking at 911s at the same time in 2017 and might have mixed up my memory. In any case, 2 ways don’t bother me. Less weight is good.
Technically the base seats are 6 way (three functions x 2), don't know where Porsche gets 2 or 4 way.
The 18 way seats add up correctly though.
If backrest fold is added in, they would be 8 way and 20 way.
