Forgive me if I missed it but do we have confirmation either way about a GPF in the US cars?

Radio delete 9 lbs
AC 18 lbs
Lightweight buckets 24 lbs
Smaller tank 20+ (on paper per din)
PCCB brakes were less because the stock steel brakes were relatively small, but still worthwhile.
All in it’s around a 40 kg advantage to the 981 Spyder by ticking all the right boxes vs the way DIN would measure the same car today. My math says the GT4 difference should be slightly more due to the bigger iron brakes.

What is there to say now that it has been released? It is a marginal upgrade to anyone that already has one. However to anyone that doesn't it'll be a great car if they want to pay the price.

DIN is no longer applicable in the weight calculation. The newer EU Norm takes precedence ala truth in advertising as a std, base car without extra cost options to reduce weight.

Perhaps I missed it but the special color cost on the GT4 is more expensive than that of the Spyder, but the wheel customization is cheaper.
Could it be a glitch?

I don't feel so excited this time around. I'm not quite sure if it's worth buying if i park it with my GT3 Touring. I kinda wanted PDK for that reason and the price hike with minimal improvement doesn't help. Are we getting PDK later or at all with the 718?

I agree. Good way to look at it. I'm paying up because I don't have one yet. Sure its more money this time round, but I missed the boat in 16.

Now Lord "Luckout " time for a feed of crow as someone put it. Not a turbo charger in sight for the 718 GT4. It was a six and it was N/A. It even was a 4 litre! Perhaps you could say that it was a derivative of the 911 Carrara S motor as before. What say you? Very silent these days for an old troll.

Hopefully everyone that wants one will get one. Like last time, a very cool car indeed. Now enough with the speculation!

I suspect there were three main reasons I never fell for the GT4: tall gearing, on the limit handling characteristics (likely down to the strut rear suspension) and the hole in the torque band. It was a technically great car despite those issues, but I was never quite able to bond with it because of them.
Of these Porsche has addressed the torque band with the 781's 4.0 liter. Meanwhile the rear suspension is what it is and the gearing actually got worse.
85 mph in 2nd... It's a little depressing even to think about, especially given how outstanding the Spyder would be with just that slight change.
I don't buy the CAFE argument but in the end it doesn't matter. I'd need to buy the car with a gear swap budgeted in, at which point you blow the warranty and really need to ask why you're not going with a used 981...
The 781 simply cements the GT4 as the modern day 944 Turbo/ 951 in my mind. Intentionally neutered from the factory and thus all the more epic when modified correctly. The 781's big engine will only make it more so, but like the 951 Turbo S I'm finding it harder to justify the new price given that I've learned that it isn't quite my cup of tea out of the box. It will be interesting to see if it's as hard to get as the 981 GT4 once was. My strong suspicion is that it won't be...

Always said the GT4 was a modern day 951
