GT4 has been at dealer since 10/17, trans finally arrived from Germany yesterday. Unfortunately it was damaged during shipping and broke a flange. Now no ETA. Unbelievable.

That's a case of salt in the wound. At least it's not the summer. Hope they turn this around and compensate you. Still find it odd that these transmissions are not available. When my '11' C2S PDK died at 1000 mi. I had a new one in 3 days.

Wow, that is so unfortunate
How do they handle this?

I would be livid. Have you already opened up a case with Porsche Customer Care?

Oh yeah, opened case soon after the car arrived at the dealer with no ETA on trans back in late October.

Was your friend's problem a total 3rd gear failure like the others posted here?

Is this a failure that has not been posted here on RL before?

Any details on the car like miles, amount of track use if any, use of slicks or street tires, etc?

Just trying to keep a count of unique identified failures.

Thanks

On that damaged transit I believe you get prioritized actually. AND on this new failure info would be great. Porsche has been handling this well it seems with loaner vehicle. Hopefully they extend warranty ..

Car wouldn't go into 3rd gear. All others ok. Some light track use, othing extraordinary. On MPSC2 tires.

did porsche make tweaks to gt4 tranny midway through production? Or are you referring to your personal change?

Kyrocks had a gearbox failure that was replaced under warranty. The 3rd gear did not fail, there were strange noises coming from the gearbox and when oil was drained, bits and pieces of metal came out. He described this in posts here on RL.

Did it occur on the upshift on main straight?

If you're referring to Kyrocks' gearbox replacement, I believe he reported on this thread that it began making noise early in the life of the gearbox, wasn't a sudden change or failure, but I'm sure he can chime in with the specifics.

I too have started to see more and more consistent 3rd gear grind both on and off track! Btw running re71 with 5k mikes. About a 1000 miles of track time.
