For the NA market the valves close rapidly (under a second) at cold start, the volume you hear for under a minute is timing related to bring the catalysts up to temperature quickly.
Refer to previous DMS header thread for more information.

That sounds perfectly evil. Fantastic! It's great to see customers so happy with their purchases!

I believe so, otherwise CEL would not be an issue with a tune.

Stock ecu no tune. With 5 years left on the CPO I'm leaning towards no tune. At least for now.

Well, no warranty if they determine that you have headers on the car and have an engine-related issue, if Porsche's practices are anything like all of the other car manufacturers I've dealt with with mods in the past...

The problem is not the headers...is that the headers don't have any cats. My dealer was specific on this: headers with cats OK, race headers... any engine issue we will have to look at it and let you know...didn't like the sound of that so decided on headers with cats.

Is there a damage risk associated with an engine running without cats?

No, but DLC can be hazardous to the engines health.

given the 3rd gear issues, I suppose they could deny that warranty if the header is causing 40hp more to go through the transmission.

I'm sure you could find a dealer or dealers that would make that excuse, but my dealer would be OK with these headers and a gearbox failure.

You bet! I have known dealers try to connect any mod to the car with a non-related issue...having a good dealer is a must, even if you don't mod the car.
