needmoregarage: do you have any pictures of the slit that you describe? My Cantrell bar shipped on Friday but is going on a detour to get powder coated to match my wheels and then I'll be getting it installed. Be interested in as much information about the install as you care to share. Thanks in advance!
Sorry no photos. I sat in the car yesterday and poked with my finger trying to find the slit but couldn't locate it. I suspect the foam behind the carpet was tunneled out just enough to make things work, and does not allow the carpet to budget. I was hoping I could find the slit with pressure. The carpet feels VERY solid around the bar so they obviously removed as little insulation as possible.
The way he described it: it's a horizontal slit that connect the two holes through which the bar fits. He pushed the bar through and the slit lined back up perfectly and is not visible.
Some pics from my installation of the RSS bar. I cut out the foam behind the center tunnel between the two holes to allow the bar through. I then trimed some of the foam to put back in as support between the bar and carpet so when you push on it its relatively solid. The carpet cut is not very visible. I found it better to stack the top and bottom part of the cut rather than trying to align them as it's almost impossible to align them perfectly. Another trick that helps is using a black sharpie to mark the white side wall of the carpet to make it less visible.
Nice job! I'm very happy I went with the Cantrell solution for my GT4. I'm not sure if you plan on doing harnesses for the lightweight bucket seats... I have an extra set of the Cantrell sub-belt mounts for sale. These are the ones that fit the lightweight bucket seats in 991/981 GT3/GT4 cars. Ad posted in the Marketplace...
Damn it. I just bought another set of PSC2s for Joe and Mooty days. I don't want other wheels, do we have any updated word on Oem size in this savior rubber?
If you are talking about RE71R in 20", Tire Rack is taking pre-orders now.
Guesstimate ship date on them is Aug-Sep.
If that's what you want, you want to call up
Damon and get on the list before they fill up.
