Default If 2016 GT4 falls through, which car?

Despite being on 3 dealer lists for a GT4 for 15 months, I still don't have an allocation. I'm told I "have" the last allocation expected at one dealer, but that they have not yet received it. They assure me that the allocation will arrive "real soon now." I'm suspicious that smoke is being blown. I should know soon.

That said, I have been considering what to purchase if the GT4 falls through. Intended use is light track, weekends, daily driver in the sunlight. (The same role filled by the 993 currently, but she keeps ageing)

It seems more and more certain that there will be a next GT4, perhaps as early as this year. Maybe with a bigger engine and the new body style. That certainly is an appealing choice and I've got all those places on the lists.

New GT3's and 911Rs are unobtanium. I'm not in love with spending what old GT3's cost on a car which may have been (ok, surely has been) thrashed.

I like the 911 GTS, lots of them still around.

I looked at the AMG GTS...holy **** that is an engine, but they need to cut 3 feet off the front end of that thing and I don't know about the track.

Thoughts, random speculation. What would you purchase?

Don't count on a new GT4 this year. I'd expect to wait 3 years or so. 2 minimum. We'll see.

I'd personally have gotten a 911 GTS if I didn't get the GT4. Not the same, but a cool car nonetheless.

+1. Not sure where OP got the impression that a new GT4 would emerge this year?

Used GT3 doesn't necessarily mean that it's been trushed, not more likely than a slightly used GT4. Many GT owner babied their car. Xpel applied and etc... In fact, it's prob saver to get a used 991 GT3 since it has PDK... You can't over rev... Won't get a worn out clutch and etc...

I would skip the AMG GTS... But a 991 GTS or a slightly used GT4 also seems like a great idea.

As stated above, many GT3s never see the track. I would look at an used GT3, cayman GTS, 911

991.1 GTS or wait just a little bit for the 991.2 GTS.

The 991.2 GTS with possible 450 hp and RWS are probably just as quick as the current GT3.

A bit left field, but what about one of these? Ultima Evolution Coupe.

NA V8 goodness with an awesome chassis, and in some configurations faster than a Veyron (street legal for the record).

Doesn't exactly look like a "light track, daily driver." I'd go for it though or maybe a Lotus.

Lol, you're right I forgot the brief. Cool car though.

OP - if you can't get a new or second hand gt4, I'd get an M2 or a Spyder.
