Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Yes I get it, these colors are rare.. Porsche make stop jump through a million Hoops to get one.. But it doesn't mean the color is always desirable.
Agree -- but 'desirable' is in the eye of whom selected the color. That a PTS color may not appeal to everyone is also which adds to its demand as an option. However, there are certainly PTS colors or color combinations that, if we were being totally honest here, would be 'called out' as the majority would find some of them undesirable.
For the approx 6 weeks that I had an accepted/approved PTS order, I really didn't care if the color I selected would be desirable to others...
Wow, crazy how different it looks in these pics and on the dealers
Facebook page. Eduardo is it closer to Gulf or Riviera in real life?
It has more 'life' than 'Gulf', less intense 'Blue' tint than 'Riviera',
& less 'Green' tint than the new 'Miami'! The friend who ordered
the 'Olympic Blue' gt4 was thinking that the color might be closer
to 'Crystal Blue', a late '60s vintage 911 color as found in my original
paint 1970 911E Targa that you can see in my Rennlist avatar!
Here is what he wrote to me:
"I was thinking of how much I admired your crystal blue targa
when I ordered this!! PTS Olympic Blue - a 914 color...I know
that this color will draw comments both plus and minus, but I
view the Boxster/Cayman series as the modern day 914 and
thought the color was unique and appropriate. Plus, your car
looks so amazing that I thought this similar color would be
fun to own."
Hopefully we will be able to check out at some point how close
'Olympic Blue' is to the old 'Crystal Blau', but I appreciate the
compliment & tribute to the color on my '70 911E Targa!
I went by my dealer to check out the new Spyder they had sitting around a low and behold look what drives up!!! This is a custom blue and was not a true factory color...but what a car.

Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Was the car going in for some type of servicing? I noticed the tape and bubble wrap protecting the drivers side sill in one of the photos.
Not sure why someone would take a Singer to a dealer for servicing. Cosworth engine and Frankenstein 911 internals with a bunch of race spec, bespoke hardware.
That Singer is a beautiful color and works way better than Olympic blue, which looks like a fluorescent pastel blue.
the singer color is nice, sort of a muted/rustic gulf blue. The really bright light blue colors tend to be more modern. waiting for more voodoo blue pics
