My PTS Spyder goes into the body shop today per the last schedule I received on Jan 4th. Does anyone know how often they update the dealer tracking system? Is it live? Or does it update weekly? Debating when I reach out to my dealer again to confirm I'm on schedule.

Nice.. Yours is probably one of the more highly anticipated PTS's..
you have to ask by the way.. i have never gotten any info without digging, some guys like to be part of the process, some don't.. same with SA's I guess. but it doesn't hurt, i bugged the heck out of my guy. reminds me, i should probably send him a message now asking where my car is.

I think that I have a really good dealer. I looked back on my Macan order and the day it went to the body shop in Oct 2014 he emailed me at 5 pm with an update report showing that day as actual date it entered the body shop. Now, I do not know if dealers get automatic updates but I had asked him earlier that morning so he may have had to do a manual check for my build. I hope this is helpful.

I know the dealer has to manually check for updates, my question is how often does the Porsche Factory actually update the system for the dealer? Is it instantly, daily or weekly?

Ah, I see. Well, I just looked back and my dealer sent me updates as follows:
10-27-14 update showed Macan entered body shop on 10-27-14
10-29-14 update but no changes
10-30-14 update showed Macan Completed body shop on 10-30-14
FWIW that makes it appear that my dealer twice within 3 days was able to provide me an update that showed a change. He has also mentioned checking status in the evenings so my assumption, right or wrong, is that Porsche updates in the evenings of the same day a step is completed.
Edit: 11-04-14 received an update showing that on 11-04 Macan Entry to Emden

Awesome that helps a ton. I will reach out this weekend then!
Nope... It's Schmidtwerk's Spyder. He's a local friend that selected Pantone 296C. His Spyder went into production early December and stalled during the 3 week Holiday Factory closure. Here's a photoshop I did for him a while back:
Mine should show up in the 981 Spyder data base soon. In fact, I am guessing that there will be quite a few new births in the next few days. My dealer notified me at noon today that my build entered the body shop on Jan 13, 2 days earlier than expected, and completed production today, Jan 19, which is 3 days early! Oh yeah! This whole process is in intriguing to me! I definitely need to tour the factory some day.

I am one of those that likes to be a part of the process. I know I have no control but just watching the progress is part of the enjoyment of ordering a Porsche!
My car continues its voyage on the Grand Venus to Jacksonville after a stop at Newark with a planned arrival early on 1/21/16.
Congrats! Your membership in waiter's club is about to terminate. I think the waiting while they cross the ocean was the hardest part for me regarding a previous order. I have not heard yet whether my Spyder has caught a boat yet but the Dover Highway is docked in Emden now. If it catches that boat I will have a long 3 week wait before it arrives at port here in the US.
