This isn't a quiz show its a car forum where people share problems and solutions.
So it isn't really funny or entertaining .What is it? thanks carl

+1. Well said Carl.

OP.... You may have seen my earlier post about the engine noise I was having, and how helpful people here were, taking the time to help me out to figure it all out. I was so appreciative for their help, so there is no reason to waste people time when most of them are very sincere. Please tell us what was exactly the problem and how you were able to diagnose it, so it may be helpful to another person experiencing the same thing. Mark

thanks, OP for being good sport. People including myself are sensitive and anxious as we are either waiting for the car to come in or still on the waiting list. Reading so many problems and not even knowing what it is is not that fun, you know. Anyway, I am sure the dealer can take care of your issue. But all in all, the best answer in this thread is the one that suggested your car came with a GT3 engine. Such a good inside joke.

I agree BUT...people come here to have a little fun as well. I enjoyed reading some of the goofy answers people could come up with along with the serious answer's as well. From reading the OP question you could tell ( at least I could ) that the problem was not that serious. I come to this site to learn and have fun... that's just me. If I wanted to be so serious all the time I would work 90 HRS a week instead of 60.

No flame intended but I am going to speak my mind. AS far as wasting peoples time... It was obvious that your engine did not blow. How could you of collected so many rocks in the engine pan and not of heard them flying all up under your car? When I drive I can easily here rocks flying up into the wheel wells. By you not realizing you drove on a tar laced road you wasted a lot of peoples time. With that said everyone here tried to help you (me included ) I think it was unfair for you to make that statement to the OP that he was wasting are time. It is his thread and he can conduct (with in the rules ) anyway he wants. I never felt he was wasting my time.

We're getting a bit off track. Let's not forget that I made the likely diagnosis and should rightly be declared the winner!

A bit of fun and yep, dont panic guys....
Actually I liked some of those answers too. Went for a spin in a Corvette resently so I can relate to that one.

Ok, so subject to confirmation, Alex is the likely winner.
So Alex, you need to get yourself to my place now. This is how:

Get a flight to LA or Dallas, then get on a plane to Sydney Australia. If you take the Dallas plane make sure you go business because it like a 14 hr flight. Not many Jumbos can fly that far so make it an A380. Hang a round for a few hours and get another plane to Perth, that'll take 4.5hrs due to the head winds of the Jet streams. Call my cell and I'll collect you from the Airport in the GT4 (if its working), oh, and dont bring a big case cause we all know that wont fit! Then I'll confuse the heck outa you by driving on the wrong side of the road.

I thought you are buying the tickets and arranging the limo?

Don't agree at all with your comment about Mark's wasting people's time. My guess as to Mark's problem was due to significant first hand experience with chipseal and the WA State work crews that lay down the stuff. Without boring all with the gory details you can end up with a coating of small stones (as they are very small, light and sticky due to being covered in the chipseal mix) in almost every nook and cranny of a car's undercarriage. And because they have a light coating the noise they produce when attaching to your car is significantly less than uncoated stones. If you have never experienced this is seems implausible, but it happens. I remember watching our techs remove about a half gallon of chips from a Boxster's undertray. As a member of the community on this "Technical Discussion Area" I was happy to help. I come to these boards for technical input and to share my knowledge with the community.

I would then lay a lot of the blame on the Porsche dealer as they should have had these problems before. In FL when paving occurs and you drive thru or around it you know it.

There is a big group of us here and for other members to try and dictate how another member should run his thread is wrong.

Where exactly would the engine be in a GT4 limo? Behind the driver? In the middle of the limo as a bar? If it was in the rear it would then be a 911 limo

Humor is essential in all areas of life, even when discussing death... Hopefully then humor is still welcome on a sports car forum...

Anyway, my guess was that since sound was happening when engine was off, that you were sitting in the garage in the dark in your car making engine sounds with your voice. Sucks I got it wrong because I always wanted to visit Perth.. Most isolated city in the world if I'm not mistaken??.. Heard you guys are a bunch of beer drinking Ozzy rednecks over there.. Sounds like fun, good luck with your engine "problem"
