It's either:

A misfire on cylinder #8

One of the leaf springs is binding

The CFRP removable top is vibrating

That bottle of Cialis that you left rolling around in the glove compartment

Not trying to be a hard ***. I always try to keep things light. What id hate to see is this forum that has a lot of hands on useful information become a lot of fluff and personality fights. For an example go and monitor the Corvette forum.

Ive seen it happen to many other car forums over the years. To me the value is to learn and share with others what you have learned for mutual benefit. carl

If I wanted to be so serious all the time I would work 90 HRS a week instead of 60.

No flame intended but I am going to speak my mind. AS far as wasting peoples time... It was obvious that your engine did not blow. How could you of collected so many rocks in the engine pan and not of heard them flying all up under your car? When I drive I can easily here rocks flying up into the wheel wells. By you not realizing you drove on a tar laced road you wasted a lot of peoples time. With that said everyone here tried to help you (me included ) I think it was unfair for you to make that statement to the OP that he was wasting are time. It is his thread and he can conduct (with in the rules ) anyway he wants. I never felt he was wasting my time.
I did not really mean to be hard on the OP and my sincere apologies to him if I offended him. Also if I wasted people time, I am truly sorry and this was never my attention. You can go through my posts and see I am not a person who would do that. What happened to me was very baffling because I never heard any rocks hitting the car and only drove on nicely paved roads and no indication I drove into something nasty. I also had a passenger in the car who is my business partner and also a certified engine builder, and he also never noticed anything and after he heard the loud noise it was his opinion the noise was a lifter noise and seeing all the oil puddles dripping from the car, the decision was to shut off engine immediately and get car towed. I own so many other Porsches and been driving them and working on them for years and I never seen anything like this before, where too many weird coincidences amounted to a wrong perception. Anyway did not mean to hijack OP thread and just wanted to opologise for offending OP or anyone else and also if I wasted people time. Really sorry. Mark

Talking Stupid question alert

Is it just me or has the migration - for the most part - to Rennlist encountered a facebook, twitter, snapshot, etc mentality instead of a helpful, knowledgable one since the introduction of the GT4 and the creation of this sub-forum?

Like i said in another post. Dont make it into the Corvette forum where its a bunch of crabby men calling each other names.

To me the value of this or any other car forum is sharing technical information for the common good , engine, chassis, gearbox, electrical ECT. .
Its that simple..carl

Thank you for understanding my point was not one of anger. I just feel some of us come here to get away from certain things. I meant no ill intent and enjoyed your thread for the technical aspect just as I have enjoyed this thread for the humor aspect.

I sometimes struggle to understand some of the nuances here, but I'm a relative newbie so it's probably me.

I benefited from Mark's thread about the tar as something similar (but not as extreme) happened the same week to me on a country road where a crew was patching potholes.

I also enjoyed the humor in this thread, though, as 1) it'll be interesting to find out what the root cause is once the dealer looks at it, and 2) it was a nice break from some of the heated arguments that took place this week.

My favorite posts on RL are the ones where I learn something or get to contribute something to the overall body of knowledge about this car (the 'how-to's, if you like), but I do enjoy the humorous threads along the way. Likewise I enjoy seeing pics of other people cars and other threads which might not have quite as direct a purpose, but in their own way celebrate the car and people's experiences of it (both the good and the bad).

The only thing I don't enjoy is the occasional sniping, bickering, etc. when it seems like somebody's deliberately trying to get a rise out of somebody else. It's a facet of the Internet though I guess.

Still, there's so much good stuff here and I'll hang around because I know there'll be more of it. My next 'share' will be mounting the Go-Pro to the GT4; if only I can get round to finishing it
