PTS Spyder Build Status...

If any of the readers want to know the full story, please read the old
threads I have posted above. Many of us contacted Donavan & asked
him to forward the information others (not him) had contributed to the
DSpyda website so that it wouldn't be totally 'lost'.
**
**
If Donavan would have been honest & upfront with us at the time this
was happening, perhaps someone in our forum would have help fund
the website or taken it over. All water under the bridge now...but the
memory (& bad taste in our mouths) lingers after all these years!
****
Yes, we understand that withholding this information was in your best interest.
Nobody is disputing that. Was it the right thing to do? I don't think so. There
is a pattern of what I would categorize as selfish behavior with you on this
forum, Donavan, whether its the DSpyda affair or not revealing to this forum
that 'Sport Classic Grey' was indeed available to other Rennlisters. Perhaps
others don't care & that is their right. But I am entitled to express my opinion.

99% of your posts are terrific, informative and friendly. That is why this seems to odd. I think your beef is with Porsche Exclusive not him. Of course unless you asked for the color they will just chuckle. As far as the registry you could have started one yourself and eliminated this gripe too...of course that would require you to have taken lead, did the work, paid the hosting costs etc etc etc. Life happens and you deal with it...it's how you deal with it that makes you the person you are. Be that guy and applaud his ingenuity and turn of luck and be happy for him.
Have a good weekend.

to congratulate Donavan for his 'Sport Classic Grey' 981 Spyder on post #235
on January 23rd, which was over 7 days ago!
***
Donavan: Let me first say that I am very happy for you. So by
reading in between the lines, you are telling us that your PTS 981
Spyder will also be 'Sport Classic Grey', color code 63A! Congratulations!
****
For those that might not keep up with the 'bizarro' world of Porsche
'exclusive' colors, 'Sport Classic Grey' was introduced for the Limited
Edition '911 Sport Classic' that PAG brought out in ROW back in MY2010.
http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=499
And that exact color was never allowed to be duplicated via PTS...
until a lucky VIP 918 Spyder owner got the approval in 2015.
And now, Gerald & Donovan are telling us that this color has been done
for some 981 Spyder clients...even thought 'Sport Classic Grey' does not
appear yet on the approved PTS list last revised by PAG on Nov 17th, 2015!
****
Personally, I think we should know how some folks were tipped-off
that 'Sport Classic Grey', color code 63A, was possible to do when
that information was not available to 99% of the Porsche customers.
And don't give me 'Melissa is my friend' line, because EVERY Porsche
customer, in theory, is Melissa's 'friend' too & she can't afford to play
'favorites' in her capacity as a representative of 'Porsche Exclusive' in
the US. I am having a hard time understanding how keeping the
information that 'Sport Classic Grey' was available but not allowed to
be widely known is justified since it puts the majority of Porsche's PTS
customers at an unfair disadvantage not knowing that such a color was
also available to them.

After all, who wrote this offensive post on this thread on 1/28?
(which I guess passes as your 'opinion') about my motives on this forum;
But I can't express mine. Sure.

How about we dial the clock back a couple of days and you guys voluntarily delete all these posts - it's got kind of off topic. I can see there a beefs on both sides, but let's call it a truce and let's get back to the builds

If you would have looked, you would have seen that indeed I was the FIRST
to congratulate Donavan for his 'Sport Classic Grey' 981 Spyder on post #235

The pot calling the kettle black. You should take your own advice.
After all, who wrote this offensive post on this thread on 1/28?
So let me get this straight: You can post this type of baseless speculation
(which I guess passes as your 'opinion') about my motives on this forum;
But I can't express mine. Sure.

i can also recommend the trip to leipzig to take a ride over the porsche track ;-)
the color of my 981 Spyder is sport classic grey, its close to fashion grey.
on the factory tour i saw some boxster spyder parts in acid green, look stunning too.

Is that a Sport Classic Grey Spyder in the background??? Mine should be there. Scheduled to exit Custom Tailoring Feb 5th.
Congrats, your car is awesome...
Love that you got black stitching too!!!

PCM Refinement...
The Spyder is in the back of the Factory Delivery area of Zuffenhausen,
Daniel, where 'Porsche Exclusive' has a workshop that customizes the
cars for 'Exclusive' options that were not able to be done in the regular
assembly line. Since you been there, you are familiar with that department.
The 'PCM Refinement' is a separate room (behind the sign & window) in
that workshop where an employee of the vendor that supplies the PCM
is assigned by the subcontractor to do any customizing work on anything
related to the PCM.
In customizing the exterior of the unit, the latter has to be taken out
of the car. And that is where this worker, seconded to Porsche by the
electronic vendor of the PCM, carefully does the work. He or she then
plugs it in test panel to make sure all works & then reconnects everything
back on the car, where it's tested again to make sure all is well!
Here are the items re: the PCM on Porsche 991/981/982 that are often
customized in that 'PCM Refinement' room to satisfy custom orders:
In this particular case, RSGT's Spyder might be in front of that room but
it doesn't mean his PCM is being customized. It's a very small workshop
for all the cars being worked on, so the vehicles are parked everywhere
they can fit!

Cool, thanks for that explanation. I guess I assumed the sign was for the area in front. So, are you saying his car is in the Custom Tailoring area? I didn't get the chance to visit that part of the factory. Next time, hopefully...
