Come on! There's got to be some secret sauce left that we can apply to the 4RS
You can run catless manifolds at the race track in Puerto Rico and go down the same road of dumping the mufflers to the point that it's obnoxious! It won't need a plenum, it can use a flash. Maybe there's another 20rwhp hiding in there but trust me when i tell you that the moment you spin the thing to 9K RPM you're gonna think less and less about that stuff.

also is this ok for a daily driver?
YES! Come on now, this is me we are talking about! Somewhere last week i posted an Instagram story where i used the sound meter on the new Apple Watch. I think it was 85db in the cockpit! lol...which is actually about 15 db quieter than the intake i designed for Fabspeed for the 987.2 in 2010. So, from that perspective, all the engine sounds are right behind you! And yeah, we are doing drains, safe for road usage, etc.! Cabin noise is awesome! Box resonates the engine sound. We made a video last week. It will be done soon.

how does it compare sound wise to the GT4RS air box? I’ve been pretty much dreaming of having the intake sound with a manual transmission ever since the GT4RS was announced

Still needs a proper muffler....was down at Dominican Republic last week to take a peak at a demo 4RS WP. Everything is great but still uses that crappy muffler design from the 718 GT4.
We will go ...once again...down that road, trust me!
For road use, I'd say the stock muffler is the best one you'll find. Everything else sounds nice and exotic at full tilt but comes at the cost of rather annoying drone.

Yeah....I know but still waiting for a valved muffler that does the job right.
The Cargraphics sounded good but once coupled with catless headers and OAP it was just too much.
Maybe a set of OAP with resonators or just keep the cats?

Def. keep the headers stock I think. I added 200 cpi catted OAPs and they did basically nothing to reduce drone. A tiny bit for the overall volume. Tried Soul valved and Cargraphic track/comp. Both very bad drone combined with headers.

In regards to the 981 GT4 AND/OR the 718 GT4, as far as noise levels go, you have to do one or the other. If you're going catless for the race track, the muffler has to stay stock; if you're dumping mufflers, you're leaving GPFs and cats (718) or just cats (981) and straight piping it. I can honestly say that either iteration shocks the hell out of me because you'd expect it to be obnoxiously loud. As @JCviggen says though, the latter combination most always always always results in a done. Porsche did their 'Dronework' on that one. Some pun

Now that we have worked together and i have a bit more understanding about how much you know, i've gone from glancing through your replies to reading them...sometimes twice. If anyone else cares, i don't know what this guy does as a day job but he's super smart and knows a lot about these cars! how are you doing my friend? I hear some friends of yours visited the shop the other day. stay well!

That is unless you're running the Ti Akra set up (Cargraphic catless headers too)

Tried that with catless headers....went back to the OEM muffler, the sound is awful, very un-Porsche (on a 718 GT4)
The Cargraphics sounds good but as mentioned...drone. Maybe with catted headers it could be an option.

Well sorry to hear that. Maybe it’s just the 718…my 981 with this set up doesn’t drone. Being able to still use the exhaust valves is also a big plus.

Yeah....the 981 is a completely different animal when talking about exhausts. Loved my 981 GT4 with catless Cargraphics and a GT3 muffler conversion. Glorious sound!
Four years after the fact Colonel Mustard is still "strong like bull." Built conservatively and reliably for longevity this car is still breaking its own dyno records!!
