Many thanks for both!!!
Have to say I'd be very into non-metallic Slate Gray or Irish Green. There is at least one Irish Green or BRG car coming to the U.S., and I have heard of 2-3 more possibles. There is just something about the 981 in solid colors...

On the other hand, I've associated dark green with fast, subtle cars for a very long time, thanks to Ruf and Alpina (as seen in car magazines when I was a kid). Then I saw a Sport Quattro in it in Monterey and was done for.

'British Racing Green'...and Ruf greens!
You're not alone, as Sonnen had a tough time selling a 981 Boxster S in Irish or something like it. I think they had it for a year or more.

In publicity shots, it was photographed by Sonnen in an inconsistent manner. In some, it looked like a lighter/brighter green:
...in others it looked almost black:

A very dark green is Alois favorite color. It appears darker than 'Irish Green' and its often referred to as 'Connaught Green'!
But Ruf is known for doing various shades of dark green including some metallics like 'Moss Green Metallic' and 'Oak Green Metallic'.

The original slate grey color code was 615 from '64 to '69 even though the Paint No. changed from 6401 to 6601 to 6801 as the years progressed. I have an order incoming in 615 and I'm not convinced the AWE pictures aren't enhanced photoshopped given the colors on the taillights, emblems etc in their original thread.
I'll find out in October for sure what it looks like when my Targa arrives.

I'm liking the other, greenish/grey which would then be be the Y code. We'll see, hopefully before end of the week!

So how are these Photoshop renders generated so quickly? Magnetic lasso to select the painted elements of the car, save selection for future use for efficiency, then target that selection with an alpha channel layer to adjust the color balance?

Irish Green seems one of those love it or hate it colors. Personally I love it on older cars, and thought about ordering my GT4 that color to match my 912 (below). I'm not sure I like it as much on the newer cars, however, perhaps due to less contrast with the body colored bumpers and trim? Some form of slate (close to my other 912) would be my second choice for PTS if I could figure out the right one. I ended up chickening out and just going white with black wheels, but I'd love to see either of these in the flesh. Kudos to anyone brave enough to order them...

That Ruf 964 is about as good as it gets in my (personal) book. Is stunning understatement an oxymoron?

kinda, I tend to use the polygon tool when cutting up my images(zoomed in like 400% sometimes) then copy and create new layer just for the painted panels. A lot of work up front but once you have that base layer changes in HSV and Levels comes very quickly.
