EVO asks Walter Rohrl GT4 or GT3?...sounds like a strong endorsement for the little 4.

Tomáš Truněček: Cayman GT4, is it better than the GT3 for you? What cars do you own nowadays?
WR:The GT4 is a perfect handling car, it’s a proper race car with a mid-engine. Lets say on a twisty mountain road, like in the Alps, I’m sure you’re in the right car if you’re in a GT4.
If you come to a racetrack like the Nurburgring, then you need a lot of power as you have many fast parts. Then of course the GT3 has more power and the GT3 is the better car.
But for somebody who says ‘i want to own a Porsche because I have fun driving’, the GT4 is a fantastic car.

^^I do not disagree that the GT4 will probably be the better driver's car but the GT3 will be the better track car(times). But- the 9000 rpm adrenaline rush and the darn speed of the GT3 is tough to pass once you have had a taste. I am very happy to see they are building this car and I can not wait for the reviews though.
If I was looking for a GT3 right now and had not pulled the trigger; the GT4 might be the one I pick. But, if you have a GT3; you will never want to give her up. These are great problems to have if you can afford and have access to either model.

Not sure i enjoy a GT4 more and it would not be race legal without devaluing the car.
This GT4 contemplation just makes me want to refurbish my 964...
The upcoming RS might even be less fun and more shock and awe but it's RS so it must be tried. Hoping for this summer delivery.

I have an allocation for the GT4. I'm living the same dilemma. I know if I trade GT3 for GT4 I will regret it. Having both may be too much for my blood. Unfortunately anytime I buy a car there is always another coming up that I also really want. I'm sure I'm unique on the forum to have that problem

Asked and answered.
GT4 you can get later if you really want--allocations will not be hard to come by. Maybe wait for GT4 RS and that way you might be able to justify it more.
For those that didn't get a GT3 it might be fun car until .2 comes out (IF it comes out).
No way I'd trade a GT3 for a Cayman

I have to admit, as a former Boxster driver (both street and track), the GT4 is the most tempting new Porsche replacement for my 6gt3 so far. If it was 150-200lbs lighter it would have been a done deal. At 3000lbs I keep going back and forth, back and forth... Those closed calipers don't make things easier, either. On the other hand, the GT4 will probably be more enjoyable/fun on country roads. On the other hand, will I miss the rear-engine magic now that I've mastered it well enough to appreciate it and enjoy it? Back and forth...
