These tests are silly when each car has a different compound on the rubber.

Even chevy figured this out years ago by only fitting press cars with the best in class tires.

That 718 with a 2.5t may have been just as fast as the GT4 with the same rubber!

Yeah, put the PSC2 tires on the 992S and it'll be about 2-3 seconds quicker.
But, as they say, run what you brung and I don't think the PSC2 are an option on the 992 are they?

GT4 was manual vs 992S PDK, and GT4 still got the win. But I agree on tire difference.

Fair fight needs to be same tires and same transmission.

Drove them both at track yesterday. Would choose 992S over GT4 any day. I wasnt really impressed. No way I would give up my 991.2 Targa GTS for it.

Manual isn't necessarily as much of a handicap as we all think

Big willow does not have a lot of shift points, its a fast momentum track.

Anyway, facts don't make good headlines.

That's what I always say!

All over social media you have these yahoos who taught that a PDK is so much quicker than a manual and I challenge them in their flappy paddle cars and I'll drive the manual - and I'll still be quicker than they are.

Shifts in isolation are indisputably faster in a PDK. But that isn't the whole story. It would be like saying a jeep trackhawk is faster than a 911 on a track because it has more power. Heal Toe and knowing what gear to be in[and when] are a couple differences. Probably someone that knows how to shift, also know how and when to brake and what line to take. Low more going on here!

It's like a dyno really.... same day, same conditions or meh. We're talking a small margin of time on all of these as well and not like there's a big gap. Small enough margin that this big willow board could be in any order with those cars in that list depending on driver and conditions at any point.

Default Looks like somone had 911 envy

Different tires are not fair. I would think pdk is more of a difference for novoice track drivers. It is not because of the speed of the shift but more so doing multiple things well or correctly very quickly.
