My battery is OEM and I am anticipating having to buy a new one after 5 years.
What H5 group battery have people been buying for their GT4?

I replaced my original last month with an Interstate AGM H5.

YOu might want to look at the H6 side, the H6/Group48 size battery should fit it in the second tapped hole in the battery tray you have and you can find the exact Porsche Battery in the H6 size everywhere under different labels such as the Walmart Platinum model. Only a few companies make all the lead acid batteries so if the case is identical the internals are also. Just saying this because you get a few more amp hours and only a little more weight, but you get a size that you can easily find anywhere since its in so many different cars brands. So they are also usually a little cheaper because it such a popular model for so many brands of cars.

This DieHard battery looks good and weighs 6lbs. less then the Interstate (32.91lbs.) Anyone have experience with them?

60 Ah for $233 at Sunset Porsche Parts, Oregon but they cant ship because it's non-AGM.
Normally $380 at my local dealership.
9.5" long

OEM#: 992-915-105-00

70Ah for $250 at Sunset Porsche Parts.
AGM battery so it can be shipped.
11" long and approx. 49 lbs

Yes, the 70Ah Porsche battery for the GT4 is just a few dollars more than the 60Ah and is AGM and thus can be shipped from an online parts source.
Sunset Porsche Parts in Oregon has the 992-915-105-A for only $250 + shipping.

My local Porsche dealer also sells Interstate out of their parts department.

But the parts guy did not have an application for the GT4. The MTX-47/H5 battery that you highlighted has the same dimensions as my Exide OEM.
I'm gonna call Interstate. Their website only shows applications for the "911" model and nothing else.

UPDATE: The gal in customer service at Interstate says that if there is no other applicability besides "911" on their website, its because Porsche did not release the "specs" to the battery manufacturer (obviously done to maintain market share of their own batteries). - - - CLARIOS makes Interstate Batteries. They are based in Milwaukee and did a recent IPO. They also make Optima and I believe DieHard too.

Johnson Controls used to make Interstate and DieHard batteries, but sold out of the battery business for $13 Billion back in 2019 to concentrate on heating,
cooling, fire protection, and security products.

Interestingly enough, the Sears and Advanced Auto Parts websites say that this battery is "incompatible" with the GT4.
They only show an H8 battery (95Ah) being compatible. The DieHard Platinum AGM which is 14" long and 59 lbs.
Porsche must not have released the "specs" required to these battery manufacturers,
or the one that is making all of them these days called Clarios,

I'm probably going to go with the much lighter H5 group DieHard or Interestate or Exide.
I will keep you posted.

I only drive my car on the weekends and the Exide in my GT4 has lasted nearly 4 years since I bought the car from a Porsche Dealership in late 2017 with 1200 miles on it.
I had the dealer run my VIN and apparently the previous owner never had this Exide replaced, so it is in fact the OEM battery since the car was brand new.
In fact, it's probably right at 5 years given my "build" date.

After doing some due-diligence, I have networked my way over to VW and am gonna get the same Exide battery that is currently in my GT4.
The Exide 5L0-915-105-D has been replaced by Part #: 000-915-105-DE
It costs $155 and I get another 10% off with my AAA card.

The only downer is Porsche needs to re-initialize the new battery and they charge $230 for doing less than 2 minutes of work,
inputting the battery's manufacturer and model number into their computer.

Hope this helps people coming up on a new battery!

My GT4 has the original H5 battery that is not AGM. I notice that my charging rate has increased to mid 14 volts. The battery is on a CTEK during the winter so it still tests fine after five years. That being said, I am about to replace it proactively. My question is to anyone who has replaced their battery and had the ECU recoded for the new battery. What are the charging volts after the recoding? Do they go back to the 13 volt range?
