Exactly what I'm doing. Just ordered them. Couldn't find a full set of streetable track tires (RE-71Rs, Cup 2s, Trofeo Rs, SportMaxx 2s) on short notice anywhere. I'm running stock 20" size.

PM sent on a set of RE-71Rs priced $999.99 which is $650.00 under cost

Any feed back on 20" GY supercar 3 tires? Does it take time to warm up the tires, like the supercar 3R?

I autocrossed a GT4 with those tires Saturday. They are really, really good. If I were keeping my GT4 I'd run them in a heatbeat, as my friend has done all season (and kicked tail doing it).

No, they do not need as much time to warm up as a Sport Cup 2, Maxx Race 2, or Supercar 3R.

I’m guessing we’re pretty close, the RE-71R are on close out.

The RE-71RS looks very nice indeed. Asymmetric tread pattern so no flipping on the rims required, fixes my only gripe with the RE-71R. Extra grip and longevity would be a bonus, the RE-71R are already stellar in my experience. Based on the spec sheet looks like whenever its released there should be good 19 inch options straight away

In the meantime I may try the Goodyear Supercar 3 as they are also asymmetric and very reasonably priced.

There's a thread over at TrackHQ stating these the RE71RS model is not coming to the states per a Bridgestone rep at the Tokyo Auto Salon. I wonder if there is another model slated to come here.

I don’t think the super car 3 is equivalent, heard they heat cycle out quickly.

I read that on a couple forums, but the fact they are discontinuing the RE71R makes me doubt that. They’ would be missing out on a huge market that is growing rapidly (track cars).

There was also a thread about those tires from some autocrosser who claim a fellow autocrosser was part of the Bridgestone evaluation team. Link

Sorry, way overdue on feedback. I ran them at Gateway in October. The day started at 40 degrees. I ran a personal best 1:09:116 during the 11am session on the first day of the weekend, but all is not apples to apples. I also had installed rear TPC offset toe links and went with a slightly less aggressive alignment which in combination cured my rear end wiggle at the entrance to T1 when hard on the brakes from 134mph. My T1 entry speeds were up a a fair amount. So I don't really know how much was tires vs. setup. My subjective observation was that they took 1-2 laps more to get up to temp vs the RE-71Rs under similar ambient conditions.

Temps were generally pretty even using my IR gun. Wear was quite good...I ate up some RE-71Rs in the very hot summer HPDE. They are an easy tire to drive, but ultimately a bit less stick than the Bridgestone's at the limit. Given the price differential, I didn't feel bad about being aggressive with them. I'd buy them again no question, unless I had money on the lap times lol....

this is wrong wrong wrong. The cup twos were nowhere near as fast as the RE 71s at Sebring or Homestead. Unless you’ve actually tried both back to back and monitor your timing, I would think twice before saying this again. I had a professional driver in my car who agreed with me that the Michelin‘s were the weak point.

It’s just hard to believe they would not sell the new version in the U.S., given how popular the current version has been. I like everything about them much better than the Cup 2’s and still would if they cost the same.
