I bought my current set of 35” mud tires from Simple Tire for my Wrangler. They were great. Their local installer to me was NTB (that was the closest one — there were many others). I paid Simple Tire for the tires and a hundred bucks for installation, they shipped to NTB, who called me when they came in and made an appt with me. I showed up, they installed the tires, I left. No payment, no hassle, all handled by Simple Tire. And their price was the best in the US that I could find, and they had plenty of stock on an obscure, just-released tire (Kenda 35x10.5).

Thanks for the heads up. I actually saw those and considered getting them. Good deal. The only thing that stopped me was that I noticed the production date being a few years back. I don't know how much that impacts how these tires still perform on the track, but since lap times is my main objective, I wanted to go with fresher ones. I hope you still can sell these, would be a shame to waste them.

Good to know that simple tire is legit. I had never heard of them before.

I think im going to try the 285/35 -20inch. Assuming TR says they will fit on the oem wheel,

will report after next track session.

Anyone with Bridgestone direct information able to confirm if it is a shortage or discontinued?

I found a set of 295's online at Simple Tire just a couple of weeks ago. They might still have some. Ordering and shipping was painless. Took a week for me to receive them and had them installed last week.

Good luck. And btw, with the new GT4 now being launched and running the same since rear tires, there is a good chance that there will be more options available soon again in the 295's. A friend of mine suggested the new Dunlop Sport MAXX 2, which is arguably a better tire, should be a good option. His take is that said tire is more consistent then the Cup 2's.If that is the case, I will give those a try if the RE71's aren't available when I need my next set.

I did three track days in the last couple of weeks in my GT3 with the Sport Maxx 2. Phenomenal tire. Exceptionally consistent. My last hard lap was every bit as consistent as my first hard lap (plenty of warm up laps). I would buy them again in a heartbeat if I wanted to stick with that type of tire. Instead I went with the PS4S on factory wheels and RE-71s on 19" Forgelines.

One thing I will note with the Sport Maxx 2 is it likes higher pressures and heat. I was going out at 29/31 and coming off around 35/38 or 35/39. By comparison the Sport Cup 2 prefers to start anywhere from 26/26 to 28/28 and typically you don't want to see the rears over 34 coming off.

That is similar to what my buddy told me, as he has used them on hit GT3 also. Good to know about the tire pressures. I find that the RE71's tend to like 33-34 and once they get to 35 start to get a tad bit greasy, so probably similar to the Cup 2. Being that I run a lot at Thunderhill, the more heat resistant MAXX2 could be better. I could use them this Sunday, as the forecast is for 105 degree.......just my luck.

Simple tire is out of the original sized RE71R (295/30 20in) .
Regarding the idea of the smaller rear RE71R (285/35 -20inch) - the flaw there is the rear ride height would drop by almost an inch vs the front. (I hope i'm quoting that accurately from what TR salesman told me)
Therefore, for now, I'm gonna stick with original MPSC2's with 20's.

Keep everyone posted if anyone has other ideas for 20" etc.

Thanks!

Bummer. I must have gotten the last set. There is a guy selling a set on this forum. Only downside is the production date of the tire being a few years old, but that might not matter and they are priced accordingly.

I was going to go with the MPC2's as well, if I hadn't found the one set that I did.

Let's hope the MAXX2's become available soon.

A 285/35 is .9" taller than a 295/30-20.

I ended up ordering Michelin Cup2 N1 spec from tire rack since I could not wait any longer. I saw that the track connect cup2 are also available now as well if anybody wants to try those.
