My cleaning lady says around $100000 in this region, 981 GT4 was $82000 last time round.

I had coffee with Preuninger last week and I'm probably not supposed to reveal this yet, but what the hell. The price will go down, like when 993 replaced 964 and price went down $5000 (about 8%). And don't get him started on PDK -- it ain't gonna happen in what he calls "the purist driver's GT car".

"NoGaBiker," he said to me, "we have the GT3 and RS and GT2RS for the "drivers" -- he used air fingers quotes -- "who can't walk and chew gum at the same time and need big HP and a computer shifter to stay on track with other cars. The 4 will not be dissipated" -- that's the word he used -- "by an automatic transmission. Not on my watch."

Interesting

So as usual, they’re keeping the cayman down

Also did he mention anything about the upcoming Boxster/cayman 6?
And PDK in those?

Thanks

RL post of the week! I hope the automotive media takes note of your inside info.

How does AP take his coffee? I'm guessing espresso.

almost 22% increase! hefty, hefty it's a money grab all around!!!!

if the US price increased by the same percent, we'd be looking at $103,700

While I'd much prefer a price decrease, I think a bigger increase is in the cards (over and above the standard annual 8% to 10%)

I don't see the price going down unless they're removing items like gt3 suspension and brakes and using more standard Cayman parts....or stripping it to the bones msrp and making everything an option...Theres no way Porsche is going to willingly light money on fire unnecessarily.

This could be possible. Some dealers were easily getting 10-15k over msrp

A few indicators to me that Porsche will increase the price more than the normal life-cycle refresh...

1. The 981 GT4 experienced much higher demand than Porsche anticipated as evidenced by the increase in production from ~1200 originally estimated to ~2400 final to North America. I believe they only stopped production as the transition to the 718 on the production line was imminent. High demand and relatively low MSRP resulted in ADM in many markets.

2. The price of the Speedster. Porsche seems very intent on pricing to market and absorbing ADM into corporate profits.

3. The price increase of PTS. Again, priced to market...

I believe they will make plenty of 718 GT4s. Personally, I don't think Porsche will want to price it to high.
