I have been reading that the top technical managers at Porsche and Audi will get the ax as well as the head of VW in the US.

I'll even give into the turbos since that's in the works, but always have a special edition NA street 911 available in addition to the GT cars.

The guy from Porsche was already relieved of his duties. I forgot his name.

VW is disolved.

1 in 7 workers is now unemployed and on the government droll. Thats obviously not including the related suppliers.

so now do they not only have to pay unemployment out the ***, they also lose a whole bunch of future tax revenue.

The government would easily rather negotiate a settlement. VW "going under" is politically impossible.
I agree that VW won't go under, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's split up into several independent companies. Based on your assessment, VW is too big to fail. Now where have I heard that argument before.

Worse case scenario, Porsche and Audi get spun off. VW isn't going anywhere. They will survive.

Matthias Müller was promoted to be the head of VW. He was not fired.

Martin Winterkorn was the head VW and he basically retired / re-leaved of his duties.

Funny thing about Müller is he is a big Bayern Munich Fan - Wolfsburg is obviously the Works Team of VW. Quite interesting.
His favorite car he own is the Porsche 550 Spyder.

Wolfgang Hatz is reportedly on his way out , of Porsche.

Of course ,it is going to effect Porsche, it is going to cost them a ton money also.

Thanks buddy. A few of these US dealers need a little shaking up too. I read all the stories and the over MSRP price gouging. I'm taking notes.

First and foremost, there's bigger things to work on. Straightening up a few bad dealers would be easy.

I agree fully too. I would like to go buy an SUV on the lot. everybody that has any VW or Audi TDI that I know are EXTREMELY satisfied with the mileage and performance. It certainly all works for mileage even if software cheated on cleanliness. Too bad as I would much rather have a diesel than the alternatives. As more of an Audi lover than I am a Porsche lover I will say I am worried about money for new products that really were starting to come together with the range I care about of the more special RS cars and new models coming...as yes I am one of the dying breed that wants to burn gas and go fast in high performance cars. I hope nothing future product wise becomes a victim to this but guess no doubt it will. I am surprised the pile of engineers went down this path especially knowing our country is full of attorneys just loving this payday to really think it would go unnoticed forever.

For anyone who is interested, there is a nice article about this topic on Total 911 Facebook page.

It will effect the whole industry. This morning a report came out that MBenz, BMW and GM are being now scrutinized. It is just a matter of time that every diesel manufacturer gets dragged in. And then, they'll probably start snooping around emissions for gasoline and hybrid motors.

Not only will the VW crisis spillover into Porsche, it's likely to affect the entire German economy.

I agree that VW is probably not going under, but a problem with your scenario outlining reasons the "government" won't levy huge fines because they don't want to put all those people out of work, and lose tax revenue, is that the US Government, EPA specifically, might be the one issuing the huge fines, not the German government. In addition to possible fines, what if the engines can't pass EPA and other European Gov emissions regulations? What if VW has to recall all those cars and replace engines, or some other costly modification, in addition to the hefty fines?
