Talking uk insurance

Hi all,

Just checking on my Egg bank account online and noticed that they have a new car insurance facility. They promise to beat any other quotes. My turbo currently costs £1400 with £500 excess. Egg are offering £1100 with £125 excess. That's a great deal! esp since I made a claim recently.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks, this is now in my favourites so that I can remember whom to check out when it comes to renewal time.

Mick, I haven't renewed with Egg (yet) but after having reviewed the documentation see that they don't cover this sort of activity. I'd be interested to compare quotes with a company that does. My assumption was that it was more cost-effective to either insure for specific track days or have the phone number for a friend with a recovery truck

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it when I renew my insurance.

Cheers,

David

Hi Rob,
sorry to be a pain..

I was considering to take the car to a track day this year but my ins. company would noy cover. I remembered reading somewhere that track ins was quite expensive esp if you want to do it more than once a year. That kind of put me off a bit and I had not looked into finding out how much it actually is.

My policy is due for renewal in a couple of mth and I think I'll try to get one that covers track days and/or hill climb school.

Anyone knows how much track day ins are normally?

Track day insurance costs about £120 a day for £12k cover with an excess of £2k. It's not cheap.

Thanks Steve
Let's say if I wanted to cover £24k, and do two track days a year, then that's £480.... more if I want to do more track days...I think I'll get aan insurance that covers track days, I'm sure the won't cost £500 more than a normal ins....

Aon include unlimited trackday cover within their policies including European tracks, but the excess goes from £250 to 10% of the cars value whilst on track.

Contact their Woking office under the classic car scheme http://www.aon.com/uk/en/indiv/classic.jsp

...as I said, make friends with someone who owns a flat-bed truck; when you prang the car they can pick you and the car up and deposit both of you on a public road

Norwich Union will also cover track days, but as in Rocket's post above the excess is 10% of insured value for the day, and they say they will only allow it 2 or 3 days in a year.
